Since it seems pointless to send suggestions for now, what are the ideas that you had for the game but never put on the suggestions or discussed with others?

One of mine is a hostage mechanic. Hostages were a pretty big deal in the ancient world and, if done properly, it could boost not only the characters aspect of the game, but the diplomacy aswell. However, the more things I came up with that involved the hostages, the more complicated it looked to be implemented, so I never got around with a good solid suggestion to submit.

I haven't got any suggestions, but wanted to say that this sort of thread could be really valuable for people looking to get underway with total overhaul mods!

I had some more advance ideas for modular and dynamic Religions and Cultures. Where Cultures could change, new could emerge and each culture would have "characteristics" (based on which the name and relation to other cultures would be) and which would grant unique abilities or modifiers.
Religious would have allowed for deities to change pantheon if ceratin conditions are met, so that in the end you could have either a new or changes religion/pantheon.
Had some other ideas such as Diplomacy and Interanal politics and civil wars, but the other two were my biggest ideas.

They should’ve fleshed out some nations on the game who are fairly sizeable but have 0 unique features:
Armenia - they even have a religion that they control all the pops of and yet no features relating to it whatsoever
Maurya - after initial fuller dies, you get a worse national bonus
Etruria/Samnium - you actually manage to stop Rome...and then nothing

Being able to change primary culture - being stuck with a minority culture is very annoying, especially if you have cultures that are 40-50% of your population (Bactrian and Sogdian in Bactria) - I think you should be allowed to switch if you have a culture that is above 40% and your current primary is at like 10% (with the usual unhappiness and stability hits when done)

Technologies that change your levy compositions - like a tech (quite far down the tree) that adds +5% light cavalry or something which would be very helpful for greek minors, or even +10% heavy infantry, -10% light infantry (to help cultures with stupid amounts of light infantry...like all the Anatolian ones with 60%)

A built in system where in every geographical region 2 nations or so get the Antagonist nation buff (like Rome and Dahae always have) - this would make gameplay more challenging (especially in places like Gaul, Britannia, Dacia and Illyria) as at the moment it’s just lots of little nations you can pick off, but with the buffs they would coalesce... So you may get to Britannia and the Dumnonii have conquered everything up to Scotland and have high manpower...

Tribes - have something that works outside of technology... at the moment your only option is to spend 50 years civilising, become a monarchy/republic, build cities and get tech...
Also tribes need their army system fixed very badly

I JUST THOUGHT OF WHAT WAS NEEDED MOST

A version of ‘present debutante’ from CK2

There are no marriageable women in the game, so as a monarchy you desperately need some.

So often a king comes to the throne at age 17 and all possible brides are over 60...it was such an oversight.

It has other issues too as even the AI suffered because of it - the size of the great families became ridiculous, with one family having 45 members and another having 7...and then some weirdness would happen and the one with 45 would fall in to obscurity...

I agree, there's always some family that has like 50% of the total population of males in the nation while the family of my ruler barely has enough people to fill their wanted share of positions

It gets worse when you become an enormous nation and you need to give a family 5 jobs but they only have 3 adult males, all of whoms’ highest stats are a 3 and so they become scorned as they are both useless and there aren’t enough of them...
