Okay, so I go HOI2 from Amazon two days ago. I flipped through the manual, did the tutorials, and hen got rightdown to playing. After a bit, I decided that it might be nice to chronicle my first foray into the world of Paradox as a comedic gameplay AAR.

Remember: This is literally my firs game ever, so don't expect me to know things you guys would take for granted!

Setup: HOI2, no patch, no mod
Country: Germany, of course. What else would it be?
Speed: Extremely Fast during normal times, Normal during war
Settings: Uhhhhhh....

All help will be appreciated, as will laughter at my mad (ly ridiculously horrible) skills.

Now if someone tells me how to get screenshots, I can start updating :)!
 
To capture from screen:

F11, or Ctrl-Printscreen and paste into the graphics editor of your choice in case of things like events (F11 never works for me when capturing events).

To post online:

Imageshack or something similar.

To post on here:

Image tags, consisting of [ img ] [ /img ] without the integrated spaces, also accessible by clicking the little icon that looks like a mountain range up in the bar across the top.

It looks promising, but I actually know even less than that-how do you get the pics in the firstplace? I heard something about F11, but I couldn't find the screenies anywhere

EDIT: Thanks to the above poster for the info. I'll probably have a status update by the end of the day.
 
It is in your hoi2 folder directory. Each time you press F11, the screenshot pix will be dumped there.
 
Okay.

So, I was just going along, minding my own business, when I got the Munich event. Britain and France accepted it-but Czechoslovakia refused to give the Sudetenland up!:eek: Fortunately, they were defeated and annexed within a couple of months.

And then-and now it gets good-a couple of days afterwards, for absolutely no reason at all, the Britain-France-Poland Alliance declared war on me! My troops were all over the place, and really Germany was in no state to fight.

Unfortunately, I had a little panic attack, and tried a couple of attacks on the Poles with more-or-less equal numbers.

They all failed.

Meanwhile, the French immeadiately attacked Freiburg (1 German Div) with 14 divs. I had, like a genius, only made a single line of defense and the French were in Austria by the time I could do anything. Annd then the British snuck up and took Kiel, and...well...I was annexed :eek:o.

I think I'm going to try again as Germany in '36, from the beginning. Thanks for all the support and help :).

EDIT: Also, I don't think I have an HOI2 Folder-only a desktop icon.

Before you declare war on someone, check their diplomacy info. Make sure that they aren't guaranteed by someone you don't want to fight. Unfortunately, almost all (or maybe all!) of central and southern europe is guaranteed by a major power.
