When does Treaty of Tordesillas start?

I'm playing as Portugal. It's 1505 and I've seen no sign that the Treaty of Tordesillas is in effect. (I've checked the Colonization map and there's no Spanish or Portugese shields over any of the S. American, Indian or East Indies provinces, as I've seen suggested in other posts.) Historically, the treaty occurred in 1494. Does it occur in the game then or does it occur at some other time? Is it a fixed date or a random date? Will I be notified when it occurs?

If it's in effect in 1505, how can I tell which provinces it affects. (I know how it worked historically. I just can't find any indication that it's at work in my game.)

I've done a search and read the various FAQs, but no luck. Help!

OK I found the reference to the treaty on the religion screen. It says, 'Treaty of Tordesillas. No' So iguess it hasn't happened in my game yet and thus it's a random event.

It should happen fairly early in the game. I think it gets repealed by the Edict of Toleration religious event.

Yes, it's random when it occurs, but it always happens.
