I saw reference to this somewhere deep in a thread but no actual answer as to what it is. The launcher has two white boxes where DLC and Mods are supposed to be. Is there a fix for this?

It's not a bug, it's probably just you have no DLCs installed. If you do though, it is bugged
I noticed the same thing with my GG version. I had preordered so I expected the DLCs to show up in the DLC box after installing. The DLC box remained blank, I had to reinstall the two DLCs from the GG ingame store option, after that the two DLCs became visible in the launcher, like in the screenshot below:
I'm assuming the mod box will only show something if you have any mods in the mod folder.

When you start the game and reach the main menu(where you select single player), press the button called "ingame store". If you have the gamersgate version, a store window will now appear. In this window, log in using your gamersgate account.
If you have preordered, you should see that two DLCs are already bought. If you select one of these, there should be a button called "reinstall". Press the button and a download will start. Do the same for the other DLC, the exit the game(do not log out first). If you now restart the game, do you have the DLCs available?
Aha, that would be it. I figured there would be a drop down or something in those spots but they were missing in a bug. I understand why they weren't showing now.
I havent received my preorder dlc from GG. Thought it was this issue but went through the ingame store and its only available for purchase, not free. Have emailed GG support and hopefully they get back to me asap.
