Probably Byzantium.:) But Norway is a close one too!

Denmark is always a good choice.

Saxons to.

My first will more then likely be the Danes, but I will look at everybody the first couple of go arounds to get a feel of who is who and what is what.

If Apulia is the Hautteville dynasty (and I'm pretty sure it is) then that or England will be my first try. I'll asve the Isle of Man WC game for a later AAR.:D :) :D

1. Nordmark/Brandenburg - a German empire
2. Sweden - I like the title, Emperor of the North
3. Ulster - unite Ireland, kick some Brit butt and become Emperor of the Western Isles
4. Russia - uuuhhhh, what can I say... Russia is Russia
5. Tuscany - unite Italy and then onward to the rest of the Romance-language nations

ooohhh interesting. I'm also curious about the status of France... if some smaller French kingdoms are playable, I'll include them in my list.
The ones I'm most interested in:
1. Denmark
2. Scotland
3. Aragon or Barcelona
And of course I'll eventually get around to playing Byzantium, England, and France, but they seem a bit 'blah'

How can you say Byzantium will be blah? They ought to be right in the thick of things, what with Muslims on one border, pagans on another border and Christians on yet another border. And if Byzantine politics are as, well, Byzantine as IRL then it ought to be quite a fun time.;) :)

Ultimately, it boils down to what we can do  . If my goal was to unite Europe and launch a crusade... it would be as a Warrior-Pope. First task would be to organize Italy under a central government. If I was allowed to designate some Holy Roman Emperors to organize their neighborhoods... ;) :D .

Yes what we can do, so while all you Pious kings are in the holy land, my Danish empire will move right in and liberate your lands from the heritics !

MP should be a real kick with this game

You are able to have some control over the Pope, but you cannot BE the Pope. So you can unite Italy, but you will have to ask the Pope if he wants to come along on your crusade.;) :D

but you cannot BE the Pope.

Thanks, that's good to know. I need to plan on being a secular ruler. It sounds to me that players can attempt to influence the Pope, but what happens... .

Actually, there would be two major crusades for a wannabee Boney... the "Holy Lands" and the Iberian peninsula.

Yes, that's all true - perhaps I was a bit hasty in making judgments (or extremely hasty considering I still know relatively nothing about the game! :) ). In my mind, I'm picturing a CK map of Europe in 1066 filled with tiny one province minors, and then there's a MASSIVE Byzantine Empire. It almost seems too easy, but I'm sure it will be fun.

1.Byzantium + pals (lets build Roman Empire again, Yeee! )
2.Normandy, or it is already England at start? (To have fun in England and France, and further)
3.Croatia (To point out all historical bugs that will be there  )
4.Scotland (Bravehart, thunders from ass and all that other funy things)
5.Hungary (Uh... I cant help my self, so much nice-bad things you can do whit it, like, take Constantinople or something :D)

6.Some estern plain kingdom, whit all that Mongols coming, it sound chalanging.

In the thread about russian translation all of the starting monarchs and dynasties are listed.:)
