I'm playing the Xbox Gamepass version of Cities Skylines on PC (Windows 10 x64).

It loads fine up until the 'Press Any Key' screen. Whenever I press a key it makes a chime and some applause sound effect and says 'Loading' for a split second then just goes back to saying 'Press any key'.

I can press 100 keys and it will always make the sound effect then just revert to saying 'Press any key'.

Anyone know how to resolve this? I already did a full uninstall and re-install via the Xbox Gamepass app.

Well that's a new one! What if any controllers or joysticks do you have attached here? Is your keyboard anything unusual?

Hi!

Also on windows game pass.

I have the same issue, no controllers or joysticks connected. I use a wireless logitech keyboard and mouse.
I tried plugging in a controller and the same thing happens.

Edit: Yeah it was just an account authentication issue. Restarting the pc fixed the issue.

Did this ever get resolved? I’ve just bought CS for Windows 10 and cannot get passed the Press Any Key page.
I have restarted my computer and uninstalled/reinstalled the game to no luck. Just the same problem as the original post.
I use a wireless mouse and have tried a controller but there’s no difference.
Any ideas?!

With the help of Christian Arvidsson, I solved this problem:

‘Open the Microsoft Store app and search for Xbox, there is an app with that specific name. Install it and launch it, sign in with your Game Pass credentials and the game should appear on your left hand side. Try launching it from there.’

None of the above solutions worked for me but I did find a solution that did. My problem was caused by Windows' Xbox services being disabled, which the game relies on to verify my Xbox account. Here are the steps I took to resolve the problem:

- Open the "Services" app or enter "services.msc" in a "Run" window (win+r)
- Find these Xbox-related services:

- If any of them are disabled, right click > properties > startup type > "Automatic" (Auth Manager and Networking Service are probably the ones that matter, but I enabled them all just in case)
- Restart PC
- Launch the game again

These steps worked for me and I hope they will work for you. Happy city building folks.
