Hello,

I want to say thank you for the game, it is really what I wanted.
I've never played Harpoon or Fleet Command (mentioned here frequently) but I'am big fan of 688i Hunter/Killer, SubCommand and Dangerous Waters.
Incidentally or not your game conveys the very same atmosphere I valued so much in those subsims.

P.S. Main menu music theme is AWESOME!
P.P.S. Hello from Russia. Arctic will be ours! :ninja:
P.P.P.S. Just joking ;)

lots of people making their first post on the paradox forums for this game it seems, must be something in those cold arctic waters.
How does it happen that you sign up so long ago and post now?
P.S. fully agree with the post (apart from that bit about Russia... hang on now...)

Back then I've registered only to download some strategy guide for Hearts of Iron (another great game!).
Felt need to write something here only now :)

P.S. Trying now to protect Iceland from invasion. Damn Russians wipe me out every time! :D

One of the early NATO scenarios, right?

My strategy:
Firstly, make sure your airbases are both radiating. Then get a jet screen up (three groups of two F-35s) across south-eastern Iceland, post an active-radar AWAC plane behind them. Then push the two subs to get into position; most likely, your southern one (HMS Ambush) will be lit up by an ASW helicopter if you allow it, so try sending a lone jet from your screen every once in a while to poke at them; they're generally easy prey.

Meanwhile, don't forget your island-airbase in the northeast, and use one F-35 to harass/spot incoming attacks from the carrier group. Convert the other two (poseidons?) to ASuW configuration and send them out to dump their Harpoons when they're finished. You could also send out the two UAVs/Naval F-35s onboard your aircraft carrier to cut down the enemy's missile supply.

Generally works nicely for me :)

Thank, General!
I've done like what you've said and it worked. Unfortunately I've lost my Sentry, one Growler and Ambush :)

I want to say I completely agree with the OP. I've been waiting for a game like for many years. I played Fleet Command and Sub Command but I found I wanted more. The Battlestations-games gave a bit in the way of this, but Naval War is absolutely what I was looking for. Enjoying every minute of playing :).

And I was pleasantly surprised it was only €20. If it would have been €50 I would have been happy to that for this great game!

Thumbs up :)

I am sure the devs will be at this very minute thinking up ways to relieve you of that 50 euros

I think £15 for this game is good value for the game's present state. However the only frustrating thing about releasing a game early with trimmed down features, like this one obviously has, in order to finance further work on it, is it's not being entirely fair on the fans who will only tend to play through it once. I am seriously considering waiting till the game has been patched significantly before considering purchasing it for this very reason. I have bought several games lately and lost interest in them before they were patched to decent playability. I'm not going to make that mistake again. If I play through it I want to do it when its got to a pretty good standard. Of course the trouble is knowing when that point has been reached.

Strange and frustrating situations we gamers are finding ourselves in these days to keep our hobby alive.

In the UK at least the sales of games last year were greater than films. So the industry is going strong, and a major factor is digital distribution lowering the hurdles to market. I happily buy a game that needs a bit of polish, assuming it gets done. In this case the game works well, nothing game breaking, and the devs are really available on the forum. This isn't a sots2 or hoi3. But of course this change in how games are being produced does have some downsides, just as you stated.

In the end, I'm glad I bought the game, and I'm really enjoying it.
