Whenever am creating a character in the ruler designer or raising one up through education I always used to avoid the zealous trait whenever possible because it didn't seem to me like a good idea to have it around but lately I have spent some time looking over each one of the character traits in more detail and I came to realize that the zealous trait might no have been as bad as I initially thought it was. I know it gives a good boost to martial and monthly piety but also an opinion penalty towards infidels and that's what scared me however, the opinion penalty unknown to me was one sided. You dislike them because your are zealous but they don't really count it against you. Is there any downside I don't know of to having this trait? Do you guys always aim to get it? I worried because I modified the religion files in order to allow marriages between different religions and I thought that maybe being zealous would somehow affect future marriage proposals between my character and a character of a different religion, but like I said before the opinion penalty seems to be one sided really. It's my character that dislikes them but his opinion of someone else is irrelevant I suppose since am the one that ultimately decides what course of action to take.
