Console Edition Development Diary #74 - Console Edition Next Steps

Hello Console Edition Community!

We’ve been watching your response to the latest update and DLC releases with great enthusiasm, we’ve been prowling the Forums, Reddit, and Discord, reading your responses and taking note of your thoughts regarding the latest release.

So, where do we go from here?

We’ve currently recorded all the issues reported on the bug report forums, and sent them to Tantalus for prioritization (how painful a particular bug is, the percentage of players/playthroughs it will affect, and how difficult the fix is to implement), risk assessment (how dangerous a particular bugfix is and how the fix could negatively impact other areas of the game) and fixing.

There is a particularly annoying bug that has cropped up with the ship designer, where the UI traps you into not being able to make a new ship design. This can generally be worked around by taking an existing ship design, renaming it, saving it, and then modifying the ship design from there.

Our current goal is to have a small patch to fix the most painful issues before the December holiday, with a larger patch coming in the New Year. Our deadline for having a pre-holiday update is in the second week of December. The timeline for this update is very tight, and should there be problems with certification or passing QA, this patch might still get pushed into the New Year.

While we don’t really have anything solid to communicate at this time, you can rest assured that your issues are being reported, and that the devs are looking at them.

From all of us here at Paradox, and the devs at Tantalus, thanks for all the bug reports, thanks for playing Stellaris: Console Edition, and we hope to be back soon with more news on a hotfix for issues players have been experiencing since the release.

late-game performance issues... please stess test it. The drop in fps is absolutely explainable considering the scale of calculations that the game has to perform at once, but if the game chokes completely for a second every 3 seconds, it makes it a completely unplayable...

One issue on PS5 I'm having which is super annoying, is an audio glitch with some types of alien portraits.

If I open the diplomacy screen, some of the more screechy aliens create an endless loop of their audio, forcing me to close the game, and reopen everything to get rid of it.

I'm just on the absolute edge of my seat waiting for console edition machine age news.
That being said there is a bug I'm getting here and there where event pop ups are unable to be closed, the acknowledged or interesting response is greyed out and uppressable.
Oh and another one I've had is a repeated game crash when trying to scrap the oracle.

LOL with how slow they are about catching consoles up, I highly doubt we will see that in 2 years.

Mid to late game performance!!!! make the game playeble!!!!
Literally this, 100%, after the toxoids update since last year performance has been horrible, this update fixed the early game but anywhere after 2300 is just becoming so frequent with crashes, chugging, fps drops.

And yes I am running with all dlc installed with my old saves cleared out and cleaned empire data. Fresh games are having these issues. Can the devs PLEASE fix the game so console players can actually enjoy it? It's been over a year!

Dont get me wrong, I am very glad we finally got the update but, now the game is completely unplayable from the bugs the update came with.
Like being unable to see diplomatic messages, place holders are being used instead of the actual messages, ship designer issues, deleting custom empires deletes the wrong one(!!!), etc etc etc.

For this I now have two questions
  1. When will a patch be available?
  2. Until a patch is available, can you please explain how to roll back to the previous version?
I was so excited and happy to see the announcements about the update but now, now I am just sad.

Hello, can we(console players) expect, that Machine age expansion will be included in the coming large patch this year?
