At Paradox Interactive, we believe that candid conversations between our players and with our teams are crucial for making great games. To that effect, we strive to foster open and constructive discussions around the games we love to make and play, and we hope you will respectfully share your thoughts with other players and with our teams.
To help us maintain an environment for active and productive discussions, please keep your posts constructive, avoid personal attacks, and stay on-topic. Be excellent to each other!
In addition to the forums, this Code of Conduct applies to all official Paradox community platforms. It also serves as a reference for related Paradox spaces and any other services offered by Paradox.
Thank you for your support and collaboration in making our communities both vibrant and polite!
To simplify things, the Code of Conduct can be summarized into the following points. More information and details regarding each point (as well as our expectations) can be found below.
Our staff and our community come from all around the world, but English is our shared language. In order to allow as many people as possible to participate in the conversations on our platforms, we ask that you keep your messages limited to English.
This does not apply to our specific non-English Boards.
Illegal activities are strictly prohibited in our forums and all other Paradox Interactive spaces. Examples of prohibited content include, but are not limited to:
Our goal is to maintain an open and welcoming environment where discussions can flow freely. To ensure that discussions remain as constructive as possible, the following behaviors and content are not permitted:
Paradox staff and the Moderation team are doing their best to keep our spaces civil and orderly. In order to maintain this order, we expect all users to follow the following etiquette:
No SpammingRepeatedly posting the same post or topic in a forum, or across multiple forums, is considered spamming. Such posts will be locked, edited, or removed. Intentional off-topic or nonsense posting is also likely to be considered spam and will receive the same treatment. This applies to both written text and image posting which also includes memes. If you think of something else you want to add to the thread, please use the Edit button rather than making multiple posts in a row as this may also be seen as spamming, whether intentional or not.
Tip: You can search the topic you want to discuss in the “search in forums” bar (top of the forum) to make sure it wasn’t already addressed recently.
No TrollingThis includes:
Final decisions on what is trolling will be at the discretion of the forum staff, who will generally give users the benefit of the doubt.
Stay on TopicWhen posting in a thread, please make sure that the thread is relevant to your query/issue, and that you would not be derailing the existing topic by replying. When creating a thread of your own, be sure to post in the right forum for the game in question, and take the time to search for an existing/appropriate thread before doing so. Threads that are off-topic, or become so, may be moved or locked.
Tip: We have Fun Forums, including an Off-Topic forum, if you would like to discuss something outside of the box.
No Bumping and NecropostingMaking short posts made with the sole intention of keeping a topic near the top of the board is called “bumping”. This clutters the forums unnecessarily, and causes active threads to be moved down the page. As such, bumping is not allowed, and posts in this vein will be removed. Where possible, please avoid posting in threads that are reasonably old (6+ months) as they are likely to be outdated and/or irrelevant, especially when reporting a bug.
PollsDo not post polls without a moderator’s permission. If you want to start a poll in one of our sub-forums, please reach out to the Forum Manager or a Community staff member to present your request. Paradox reserves the right to decline any request.
No BoycottsParadox’s forums are the property of Paradox Interactive. We do not allow calls for boycotts and petitions to be shared on our platform.
No AdvertisingAny post with the intention to sell, buy, or trade products or services, links to auctions, affiliate links, links to promote personal or commercial websites, blogs, personal social media channels and other forums is not allowed without the express permission of Paradox.
Moderation ActionsDo not publicly discuss moderation, warnings or bans. These are not a topic for public discussion, and should not be contested in a public thread. If you have a serious issue to raise with moderation actions taken against you or in general, please contact the Forum Managers. If you were banned from the forums and are not able to contact the moderation team, you can appeal the sanction by reaching out to this email: admin@paradoxinteractive.com.
Know that our moderators are expected to be forgiving of minor transgressions, and to allow a lot of room for freedom of expression and opinions.
Formatting & Signature GuidelinesDo not abuse the forum’s formatting options such as using mostly capslock, spamming emojis, Pyramid Quoting, etc.
