Stardate 23878.1

Hello and welcome!

Today we are going to lean into a more practical approach to our dev diary, as the stars align, we are looking at what is happening next Tuesday, when we explore some community engagement outside Discord, and look at our other friends in Star Trek gaming.

Reddit AMA Announcement

AmA Banner.png

As you might already have seen, we (Nimble Giant & PDX_Ruk) are holding a Reddit AMA. This is the time to delve into Star Trek: Infinite and hopefully get some of your questions answered. With the team prepared and ready for this, we will dive into the most intriguing questions and share insights from behind the scenes.

You can find the announcement thread here on r/StarTrek.

Our plan is to go for a few hours, and we will try to tackle as many questions as possible. The future is still to be written, but we will do our best to answer what we know about it.

As always, remember the rules of the subreddit: Be Constructive, Be Welcoming, Be Nice, Be On Topic - I don’t want to use the report button, but we don’t want to use our AMA to argue with anyone.

Star Trek Online Cross Promotion

We know that a lot of you out there also play Star Trek Online, and when we were approached by the team to do a cross promotion, I jumped at the chance.

So alongside the AMA, on the 21st of November, we will open up the floodgate and anyone who is an owner of Star Trek: Infinite will have a key they can use to unlock our Miranda-Class model in Star Trek Online.

Our beautiful Miranda model, now in Star Trek Online

More info on how to redeem this will be published on Tuesday the 21st.

Moving on:

Path 1.0.5

Back in Growing the Beard we promised we would be working hard over the next month to fix as many issues as possible. Come the 21st of November we will be delivering the 5th of these weekly patches, and having hammered out over 200 fixes.
We have fixed the most glaring issues as well as a bunch of annoying minor issues, and are drawing ever closer to our 4K scaling problems. Fonts now scale correctly, and the UI will automatically adapt to lower resolutions and to scaling upwards up to a point. We still have some engine settings we are implementing and testing, but playing on a 4K screen after Tuesday should be far more pleasurable.

Overall there was a lot of work put into this game over the last month and we believe the game is now in a much better state than when we were at release, and if you were turned off during that first week, I encourage you to check us out again.
(Also if you left us a negative review because of any of the issues we have now fixed, we would be super thankful for a re-review, if possible )

What does the future hold.jpg

Anything else for the 21st?

There might be a 4th thing occurring on the 21st, and it might tie into the above three things.
But if you want to know what that is, you should join our AMA.

Thank you all, and I'll be seeing you again on Tuesday.

A fourth reveal on 21NOV, huh? : )

You had me at AMA!

Awesome, seriously looking forward to being able to read planet names and have decent icons at 4K! Thank you for your hard work!

I wonder, any plans to import the tabbed outliner across from the 3.10 Stellaris update?

Not in it's current form, let's see how stellaris improves upon it in the upcoming patches before we decide to grab it.

Yeah I also hope that the game can get some content from Star Trek Online.
Especially ships for the Romulans who sorely lack some.

And some potential story developments such as a shift to becoming the Romulan Republic.

Are more fixes planned after the 21st? I want to play as soon as the fixes stop trickling in as I assume it'll all work fine by then.
“It’ll all work fine” can be a monstrously wide window of possibilities.

Personally, I’ve been enjoying the game since launch. And at last count by the devs, something like 200+ fixes have been put into the game since Launch.

But if “all” includes anything like lore composition and distribution of starships… then you might need to wait until much deeper into 2024, if not 2025. : (

Maybe the modding community might offer you more of what you are looking for?

Thanks to the team for your work with the regular updates. As the immediate issues and bug fixes get addressed, I look forward to hearing what the plans for the future are and (hopefully) what sort of content updates we'll be able to look forward to down the road.

An STO cross-promotion sounds fun. I echo the sentiment that it would be awesome to see further crossover/collaboration in the future, if that's possible. STO has some fun ship designs and story hooks that could make for great additions. Iconian crisis, anyone?

All I want is not to be locked out of mission trees, having every mechanic work most of the time and extreme lore issues getting fixed (like how Data used to age and die!).

Data dying of old age has been ”fixed…” regardless of our now consigning Data to an endless existence of servitude, danger and drudgery…

Sounds like the making of a great time-travel TNG episode! : ) lol

Sounds great to me.

Just like PGI pulls forward BattleMechs from MWO for MechWarrior 5 and according to the latest announcements and discussions, MechWarrior 6, the devs here can hopefully pull forward STO ships.

I hope there are sufficiently attractive cost-savings in so doing… it would address one of largest remaining frustrations with the game.

Is that going to be a permanent bonus for purchases going forward or a temporary bonus for a limited time?

As long as I have codes, I plan on keeping it live. And if I run out of codes, Ill ask STO for more. (But therein lies the limit of the offer)
how do you actually get the codes im based in GMT uk time i been watching the reddit and not seen any details about this, even though the post said 'more details to come' on steam and here, iv'e still yet to see any details. Further steam is giving conflicting announcement's along with the patch notes released today there was some mention of the codes being delayed or something. Surley it would have been easier to email the codes to customers whom purchased STI , if there are limited codes and the AMA is based on a USA timezone surrey thats unfair and people 'WILL' miss out
