The AI is already braindead why make it even easier for the player? And it's not like anyone actualyl ends up as an ai vassal in the vanilla game.

This is in the case of the AI taking over a player in an MP game if the player drops connection or doesn't rejoin a session.

WTf.....why.This will make the AI even worse. They should focus on research more not less.

Combined with the other changes, the AI now has a stronger economy and does focus on research more than in 3.0.

Nice big update, but one question...

what does this exactly mean?
"Fixed fleet speed being dictated by the first ship in the fleet instead of the slowest one."

You build one corvette per fleet first and then they all fly at corvette speeds?

Yeah, there's an exploit in 3.0 where if you put a corvette in a fleet of battleships the fleet moves at corvette speeds, not battleship speeds.

All these civic changes, but nothing for Megacorps. :(

There were these.

  • Sectors released as vassals from megacorps are now released as Oligarchies with the Merchant Guilds civic and one or two random civics (depending on their technology).
  • Added a new 'Mercantile' tradition tree to the base game.

Plus some Criminal Syndicate changes.

* Fixed fleet speed being dictated by the first ship in the fleet instead of the slowest one.

It is very good and reasonable change. But to be clear, which is the true determinant of the fleet speed for 3.1?
A) Sublight speed of the SLOWEST ship in the fleet
B) Sublight speed of the LARGEST ship in the fleet
I mean that the largest ships are not always slowest.
Neither. Fleets will now move at the slowest speed of any ship in the fleet.

Edit: As @Tamwin5 pointed out a few posts below, this is absolutely the A option!
I skimmed too fast and got it as Smallest vs Largest.

Great looking patch! Any word on savegame compatibility?
Save games may load, but there is no guarantee regarding their stablility in the new version.
If you have a game you want to finish up, I'd recommend staying to the version in which you first started that game.

...Isn't that just the A) option? Or did I misread something?

Thanks for pointing that out :)

Are we going to get ship upgrade order fixed?
Presently, Titans and Battleships start last, despite taking the longest.
Might be related to priority order for building when reinforcing fleets, where Corvettes will be prioritized over larger ships. (which can be partially mitigated by what order you saved ship designs--older designs get higher build priority)

Still no fix listed for federation fleets appearing to take up empire fleet capacity in the fleet management screen, or other various issues with that screen. No more orphaned fleets due to combat is huge, though.

Have these been reported on the bug report forum?
