Hi Yvesp and Ulmont!

I would like to throw my two cent here since I kind of "experimented" with both converters. So I posted a little help during a topic in the MM forum. Here is my conclusions from using both converters:

Thanks for your interest in our work

Yves

OK, it looks like I was missing the JRE 6 so I installed it and ran the converter...gave me an executable file and I chose some options...but where did my converted file go???

Have you a log file in the directory where you installed the converter ?
It's ciontent could be usefull in case there is one.

Thanks,
Yves

No log file was created in that directory so far as I can see.

You should have a mod.
Start the game and in the opening screen, choose the CK converter mod instead of the standard game.

I tried Ulmont's link for (the?) converter and didn't get as far, got this error message:

OK, lets get back to basics:
* what do you have as files in the folder where you put the converter ?
* did you get to screen where you are asked some choices about the kind of conversion ? (numbe of couties, weak crowns...)
* did you use the ckmod.bat file to start the converter ?

Yes

ckmodoptions.jpg

After selecting options, this menu disappears and nothing else happens.

* did you use the ckmod.bat file to start the converter ?

I used the executable .jar file

I didn't have this file at first, but I read earlier in the thread about needing the JRE so I downloaded jre-6u16-windows-i586 from the sun / java website and installed it. I got the executable jar file after I ran the ckmod.bat following the JRE installation.

Yes

You must read the .bat files and put the same options, otherwise the converter crashes for lack of memory.

"read the .bat file"? How do I read it? What do you mean "the same options?" The same as what? Sorry to be such a novice

You open it in a text editor and read the line inside.
Actually, you cannot launch the converter by merely clicking on the jar.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but when you do that, the Java environment starts with too little memory and the converter crashes not nicely.

So, you have to pass the command in a command shell, and type in something like

java -Xms500m -Xmx500m -jar CKmod.jar

I opened ckmod.bat in Notepad and entered the following based on instructions earlier in the thread:

java -Xms500m -Xmx500m -jar CKmod.jar "F:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings" "C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis III" Kingdom of Rus_1253_January_8

(Ignore the date. I'm just experimenting with this particular save file)

Obviously still doing something wrong since it still didn't work

oups...
After all, I see that you do have a log file!
That's the problem when n ot showing file extensions...

Show me the text document named ckmod.

Don't know...
I was even unaware of this.
Maybe it'll work with no problem... maybe not.
Depending on the work to do and my commitment, I may have the converter support this... or not...

Hum...
Looks bad.
Not even an exception there...
I'd need your save to understand what's going on and why the conversion process looks stuck. Did you let it some time to run ?

i wonder if in future you'll be able to convert CK rulers in EU3 Rulers complete with Dynastic ties.
