I'm an old-school Paradox guy and grew up playing EUII, CK, Vick, HOI1 & 2, etc.

Any time an expansion came out for one of those games or the new set of Paradox games, the forums generally blew up in activity. That doesn't happen here in the M2 forum. Interestingly, too, I notice that the active posters here have only one maybe two "icons" under their names, mostly M2.

M2 and its expansions are in the top 5 GamersGate games, but again, not much more activity, if any, has been going on here.

So I ask, who are you Majesty 2 gamers, and what is your experience with other "Paradox" titles?

I think a lot of the majesty 2 players came here because they played the original majesty. I did as well. Not much else experience with paradox titles, might look into some if i have more time..

I've played a lot of Paradox titles in the last year or two. Only really registered Majesty 2 because it was necessary in order to see the user modification sub-forums.

I have no other Paradox games, but I have all of the expansions, and, unlike most, it seems, I really enjoy them. Not as much fun as the first because of the lack of the sandbox mode, but I still play them over and over, just for the fun of it. I am currently on mission 4 (Hunting the Hunter, I believe) on Battle for Ardania. :)

I knew Paradox from Europa Universalis III and Rome so when I heard they would be publishing Majesty 2 I was delighted since I was a fan of the first. What I'm looking forward to is another EU game set in medieval times.

I'm a real Paradox vet, I started playing games by them before they were even known as Paradox! In my younger days, I had games like Svea Rike 2 & Drakar & Demoner: Själarnas brunn, and before that, I played Drakar & Demoner 91, Mutant 1 & 2, Kult... although one could argue that there was not an unbroken chain between target games->target interactive. A started playing their strategy games when HoI 1 was released, and I also fell in love with Victoria: An empire under the sun. Europa Universalis have always been my least favourites among their strategy games...

I have more paradox games that I've not bothered to register/can't register because there is no option to do so (like Penumbra collection, EU1-2, Victoria: An empire under the sun, HoI 1-2 & Crusader kings. My computer is getting old, so I have not got HoI3 or Victoria 2).

I'm the same as sjoerd and Mantic; just came here because I'm a Maj1 vet. Don't have any other Paradox games (but then, don't really have a lot of games anyway :) )

I got hooked on Paradox games with Victoria: An Empire under the Sun. I play Majesty 2 because I really enjoyed the original Majesty. To me, it just seems a coincidence that Paradox is publishing the sequel.

I played both M1 and paradox games back in the day.

Ditto, I was an old school Majesty player too, so when Majesty 2 turned out not to be a Fantasy Kingdom Sim and all that talk about staying true to the formula turned out to be lies to ease the concerns the fans had, I was a little more than disappointed. I kept holding out hope that Paradox, given their previous record, would make things right... Boy was I wrong.

I think mostly causal gamers and people who never played an authentic sim game in their life buy Majesty2 and it's expansions. It's probably an ill informed spur of the moment decision or someone has just never seen anything like it before. That or people who just love anything bright and colorful, and people who just love anything that's challenging.

I suppose I understand some of the disappointment, but why the hostility? The original Majesty was a fun game, but I would not call it deep. Majesty 2 is also fun, even if the focus is slightly different. If anything, given the difficulty, I would consider Majesty 2 to be less hospitable to casual gamers. Both are games that I play a few hours at a stretch, in contrast to grand strategy games or RPGs.

played majesty 1 and when I heard about majesty 2 I jumped 2 feet in and like the game no matter what other people say about it being too different from the first one. I love both game and buy all the majesty expension and hope there will be a 3rd one. Dont play alot of game anymore so I guess i fit in the casual gamer now :)
