Some max ranges from our weapon database:

RGM-84 Harpoon 278km
AGM-84 Harpoon 315km
BGM-109 Tomahawk TLAM-C 1500km
P-700 Granit 'SS-N-19 Shipwreck' 625km
PJ-10 BrahMos 290km
Raduga KH-22M 'AS-4 Kitchen' 500km
Raduga Kh-65SE 'AS-15 Kent' 600km
Raduga Kh-555 'Kent-C' 2500km
Shouldn't the TLAM-E block IV Tactical Tomahawk be in there somewhere? It is currently being used in Libya.

Three questions:

1. Will all three variants of the F-35 be in the game? Since there are many differences between variants, such as the absence of an internal cannon in the B and C versions.

2. Are random mechanical or electronics failures in aircraft simulated?

3. Will Naval War use USNI map symbols?

1. Probably.

2. No. I for one think it is frustrating in games. In real life, what feels random is actually caused by some mishap or maintenance failure that you (or someone) can influence to some degree. In a game, you know the computer threw a dice and you were targeted.

3. Unlikely. We want the game to be immediately quite accessible, thus using symbols that we think are easy to make sense of. We may add it as an option, but it's not very high on our priority list.

This is more of a real world question than a question about NWAC, but can Harpoons be loaded and launched from Mk. 41 VLS systems? I own a book titled The Encyclopedia of Warships that suggests this is possible. With the success of the Harpoon, the timeframe of the game, and the absence of dedicated Harpoon launchers on later Arleigh Burkes, even if the harpoon cannot be VLS launched at this time, I would bet that this will be standard by 2030. Even with its smaller warhead, the Harpoon would be less mind numbing to use in NWAC because of its higher speed and thus shorter flight time. :) Also, is the UGM-84 Harpoon in the game?

I know this might be a storyline related question. But will us NATO players try to attack the Bastion at some point during the single-player?
Quite the challenge and could be fun to try.

This is probably just me being stupid, but what is "the Bastion"?

Soviet doctrine called for the northern nuclear missile subs to fortify themselves in the White Sea and the Barent Sea. The narrow entrance would (hopefully) stop hunter killer subs from entering and eliminating the SSBNs. Air Cover from land bases would hopefully also prevent NATO aircraft and surface task forces from getting to the subs.
That way the USSR would have a very well defended nuclear force in the Bastion (white sea and partly the barent sea)

JanH, what is the point of a mission where you attack the Bastion if SSBNs are not in the game?
A bit of a conundrum there, I admit. However, taking out the attack subs and the land based aircrafts is probably a necessary part of such an attack.

Any successful attack on the bastion would certainly give Russia an extremely strong incentive to launch their nukes before all the SSBNs had been taken out. It would be a strategic disaster to go for it. Still, tactically, a very exciting battle.
