So I was a bit bored last night and decided to install crusader kings(with DV) on my computer. Installation wet good and I loaded up the game and came to the scene where you can choose what country/duke/count you want to play. I choose one and pressed start.

Screen went black and I waited adn waited giving the game time to load, but nothing happened. when I pressed ctrl+Alt-Delete I had some sort of fatal error. I tried several starting dates and starting positions, but they all ended the same way.

Anyone know what causes this and more importently, how to fix it?

Try these things

- Rename your AVI-folder (in the main crusader kings folder) to something else (like AVIback f.e.)

- Go into the settings.txt file and make sure the resolution there matches what your video card/monitor can support. When in doubt set it to 1024 X 768 refresh 60.

- Set colourdepth to 16 bit

Tried them and got slightly further, it started to load before chrashing and while it still chrashed it was not a fatal error anymore. So I experimented a bit with colors and stuff and found out it worked if I set it to run in 640*480. :)

Thanks a lot !

Getting the "failed to initialize video" tried the same as the above, but didn't help..
Before renaming the avi folder, it succesfully loaded the first video, then failing with the before mentioned "error message"...

EDIT:
Nvm, got it to work with a larger screen. :)
