To put some sense on the still conservative PM that allied with the liberals and the formally toothless King that was a pal of the "artists" of Paris that allied with the conservatives? *faint*

Seems to me we've got a "British Politics imitating Indian Art" situation her, with the alliance of Call me Dave and the Cleggster mirroring what happpened in Punjab over 100 years ago.

Unfortunately HM Queen Elizabeth von Saxe Coburg und Gotha is not too enamoured of the Bohemian lifestyle.

But the Socialists don't make up 10% of that parliament. ;)

Curiously enough though, when I first read the PM's arguments for coalition my thoughts did immediately turn to the 2010 negotiations. :)

Terribly sorry about the delay. I wanted to put some effort into panel 1, and my free time has been severely limited lately.

I think speech bubbles are the greatest hassle when drawing comics. There is simply no good way to do them efficiently.
Yeah, they are usually more of a necessary evil – although in some types of comics they can be made part of the art, by drawing them in ways that are integrated into the design and the sentiments they have to convey. The webcomic Subnormality has some stellar examples (of course, that’s also the webcomic that prides itself on its walls of text…).

This aar is AWESOME. Keep it up!I'll be sad when the old vizier actually passes away :(.
Thanks! I think it’s far more likely that the AAR will end while he’s still alive. I’ve grown rather attached to him myself.

Anarchists and Socialists have an inflated view of their own importance as per usual. :) I do like how the conservative and reactionary MPs have greyer beards compared to their Liberal, Anarchist and Socialist counterparts.
A keen observer! It’s all in the detail…

Dammit, gotta love the reactionaries! :D
Good update!
Thanks!

Congrats on the win! Though if you'd rather your AAR not win, I guess you could ask that it not be counted for in the voting I mean... I don't see why not. :p

Anyways, I can hear the drums of war beating, (If by war you mean lots of yelling and arguing) enjoyed the little bit of faction-forming there. If I understand correctly, it's Gunkaar and the PM vs. Dalip? Hm... Peasant hunting is already in full effect, wonder if Dalip will try to win over the reactionaries somehow?

Poor Anarcho-Liberals...
Hm… that might have been perceived as a slap in the face for those who took time to vote for it – or to the Awards themselves if I declared SS ineligible.
The Reactionaries are mostly away for the hunt. The battle will be brutal, nevertheless…

I love how Dalip and the PM are both claiming to have more support than they (apparently) have. And is that a gold plate on Dalip's temple?
From when a bullet grazed the side of his head earlier in the AAR.

Heh, maybe it's a complete stalemate and the A-Ls were the only unaffiliated faction and are the ones to tip the balance... Hm...
I know :) I just hadn't noticed it in earlier updates
Prince of Savoy is right. I took care to show it in all previous pages, but I think I may have forgotten it on one of them.

It'd be hilarious if the Anarcho-Liberals decided things.
I would be… not so much for our protagonists, though.

I'm a little sad about the end of this AAR actually being a reality in the near future. Although I must admit that it would save you a lot of writing effort having to kill off old but well loved characters. Would still be nice to have some sort of major conclusion to wrap things up like a mainland invasion of Britain with a cut-down-to-size CB and have one of the major characters strolling into the British throne room for a change. Or anything else you can think of that would show punjab and her people coming full circle. I always love conclusions that reflect back on the beginning again.
There will be a conclusion, don’t you worry. Although likely not something as dramatic.

So, the leader of the conservatives allies with the socialists ? To put some sense on the still conservative PM that allied with the liberals and the formally toothless King that was a pal of the "artists" of Paris that allied with the conservatives? *faint*

So, tell us more about the sane and stable Indian politics :D
You should see the next page…

Heh! I haven’t been following British politics lately. Interesting (and not in the British sense of the word)!

63: The Art of the Possible II

YES!

With such obscure rules & procedures this new system will only present new chances for India to strive forth in the great field of applied nepotism!

Something about that chair just makes me want to crack up laughing. It reminds me of other parliaments with less 'decorum'.
I've been reading for a while and I have to say that this is one of my favourite AARs even though I don't own Vicky. The comic format makes each update much easier to consume even if it probably takes the same time as a normal text update which would have much more content in it.

Beautiful, the US congress should take notes.

"A house divided cannot stand."

COMMIES COMMIES COMMIES.

Well, His Kinglyness is head of state, so he has de jure superiority over the Prime Minister, who is merely head of government. Ergo, he is still in charge.

Actually, I don't think anyone is really in charge any more. The King gets his powers from the House of Lords, but it can be blocked by Parliament, so he won't get power, and the same thing can be done to the Prime Minister. Only if one of them gets a majority in both houses can they get any power.

True enough. And in the end the real power will be the one that controls the King and PM from the shadows :p That or if either the King or the PM accepts to play a subaltern part willingly, a thing that I'm not seeing Dalip accepting that easily ( neither our soon to be PM, TBH ) :D

On a more "serious" note: what is the relationship between the two chambers, if any ?And the house of Lords is elective in any way ?

At the end of the day it requires the king and the prime minister to agree with one another. Yet unfortunately, one of the things that has made Dalip, Dhian and Gunkaar such an effective team is the fact that they've been able to get on with their respective ambitions even when they don't agree with one another; sometimes because they don't agree with one another. Dalip would never have taken the vast majority of British India if Dhain had been able to stop him, and I'd be interested to know how Gunkaar is going to push through his alliance with China now that Dalip is in a position to veto him... or how Dalip is going to prosecute his wargoal now that Dhian and the House of Commons can veto his directive.

Still, the US system seems to have stood its ground through 200 years of partisan bickering and the obstruction of various bills by one house or another, so presumably the Indians will muddle through somehow.

Ahh Nepotism...surely one of the best 'isms'.

That's what my father always said, and his father, and his father before him.
So it's a tradition than, and traditions shouldn't be forgotten.

Poor Gunkaar having to hide behind the Speaker's chair during the riot...

hmm...that system sounds a bit similar...maybe the president of the US is just a puppet and the heads of the parties have control of everything...oh wait. XD
on an unrelated topic, selzro, i'm wondering, which regions (or part-regions) does GB still have in India? just pure curiosity.
