Honestly I was about to do the same thing, but you beat me to it.

By saying this you ensure that you'll get all of the blame and none of the credit.

But you know this, Aedan. You know this to be true, so you think you can escape the blame and have no need for the credit.

Aedan, I have to ask, Are you really who you say you are?

Day/Night 6

After the incident between Hagar and Sigurdr, all eyes turned to the snake-ventriloquist. Sure, the assassins hadn't used snakes to kill the Norsemen, but some reasoned that perhaps this was their back-up plan. Sigurdr tried to defend himself and his snake. "It wouldn't attack unless it was in danger, it's a good snake, Odin himself would be proud to have such a snake," he pushed the snake in the face of Erak Thunderson, who, not wanting to seem a craven, remained completely motionless. As he opened his mouth to respond, however, the snake lunged at the man's face and pumped another victim full of poison. Not wanting to risk it anymore, the guards filled both the snake and its master with arrows. An investigation led by Eirikr showed no sign of either of the men being a traitor. It seemed like they were just killing eachother without any progress.

The talk about Sigurdr was all that went down for the rest of the day. The sun set and Eirikr was about to settle down for some rest, when a bloodied, half-dead Norwegian soldier stumbled into the tent with the help of one of Eirikr's guards. The old man rushed to the side of the dying soldier, who looked like he was trying to convey a very important message. "What happened, was it the assassins?" the old man urged him to cling to life for a little longer. The viking just nodded, fighting to stay conscious. "Who, who got attacked?" Eirikr was holding his head up, trying to get every last bit of information he could. The soldier took a deep breath and tried to say something, but it was not meant to be. He collapsed to the ground and passed on to Valhalla.

Eirikr wiped the blood onto his undergarments, rushing to get dressed. "Inform everyone, make sure all the guests are in their tents and their guards are ready. And find out who got attacked and where," he spat out instructions to the guard, who just nodded and rushed outside. Not a minute passed before the prince rushed into the tent. "Eirikr! Good, you're alive," he rushed to the old man. "The king, he's... No, not our king! My father is fine!" he veered off topic when he noticed the teary expression on his advisor's face, "The king of Norway was killed!"

What if we're all wolves? Then we're not fools, but clever instead.
