Werewolf: April Fool's Edition

Synopsis:

"Life's a joke. A big, cruel, ******* joke. No matter what happens over the next few nights, at least I'll die laughing" - Intentional mis-quoting of "The Comedian" from "Watchmen"; bleeped the vulgar word for safety. You have recently settled in a new town; when rumours start flowing around about ancient Indian curses and Werewolves, but you don't believe that, right?

The Roles:

- Villager: Just your bog-standard villager. Gets no special powers at night. Can elect one player per turn to be the Mayor of the town. Can vote for one player to be Lynched.

- Town Mayor: Same as Villager, except in the event of a tied Lynch vote, the Mayor gets an extra tie-breaker vote.

- Werewolves: By day, an average villager, but by night a hungry, bloodthirsty monster. Must co-operate with other werewolves to vote for one player to be mauled.

- Black Wolf: Along with the regular werewolf abilities, the Black Wolf can chose to have one player Muted for the next Day Cycle.

- Seer: By day an average villager, but by night can choose to have a "Vision" about any one other player; the "Vision" will tell the seer what role that player is.

- Witch: Can defend him/herself once only from a Lynching by targeting another player in their stead. At night, can chose to Save OR Poison one player, but not both options.

- Defender: Once per day or once per night, can choose to defend one player from any attacks. Note: Doing so sacrifices the Defender's life if attacked, but also kills the attacker.

- Hunter: Once per night can "Hunt" any other player to kill them, if that player is a Werewolf, the Hunter is also killed.

- Sorceror/Sorceress: Once per night, the Sorceror/Sorceress can have a "Vision" about any one other player AND Save one player.

- Apprentice: May either have a "Vision" about another player OR Save another player. Inherits the Sorceror/Sorceress role if the previous one is killed.

- Peeping Tom/Girl: May at any time during the night "peep" to see what is going on. Receives information about all nightly activities, but not roles or players up to that point.

What is Werewolf:

Werewolf is a game of paranoia, deception and betrayal. Hidden amongst the innocent, ignorant villagers are a small Pack of Werewolves looking to eat them. The villagers outnumber the Werewolves, but they don't know who to trust. Meanwhile, the Werewolves know their fellow Pack members and can work together to even the odds. The Werewolves want to kill enough villagers so that they can reach parity and overthrow the village openly; the villagers want to destroy the Werewolf menace by uncovering their secret identities.

There are a few helpful people in Town, such as the Seer, the Sorceror or the Witch, but it is entirely possible that these people may not be as helpful as you might think. There are the Defenders and other similar classes that can choose to save villagers from their fates. These players must hide their identity just as much as the Werewolves must, as they are the greatest threat to the forces of evil and will surely be killed if revealed.

It may seem like a simple Villager is powerless in this clash of good verses evil but they are not. Every day the village gets to choose one person to Lynch, as punishment for the nightly murder. The village must vote to choose the person they think most likely to be responsible. With their vote, the Villagers can reveal much about the motives of others, but they must be cunning, or more than a little lucky, if they are to survive.

The Rules:

All roles will be handed out after the last person signs up, with all players receiving a PM containing their role as well as other useful information, depending upon your class. The game will then proceed to a "Night" cycle.

The game is divided into two periods - "Night" and "Day", each period will be run in sequence, with each period lasting a full 24 hours. This gives players plenty of time to make their decisions. Please Note: If you do not make a decision, the default action is "No Action"

Each day, all players vote to lynch one of the players - the person they think is most likely to be a Werewolf. Each night, the Werewolves decide who to kill. In 48 hours a full day/night cycle will be completed and the results published to this post.

Since the Peeping Tom/Girl can "Peep" at any stage during the night, they will only receive information about all activities, but not roles or players up to and including the point at which they ask to see things from. (Will be given options 1 through 7)

There are other things that go bump in the night though, and these will be resolved in the following order:

?) Peeping Tom/Girl (Since this can be done at any stage during the night phase, it is resolved during that stage)
1) Seer
2) Sorceror/Sorceress
3) Witch
4) Hunter
5) Apprentice
6) Defender
7) Werewolves & Black Wolf

Standard Werewolf Rules

§1A. - You sign up to the game by requesting so in a post in this thread.
§1B. - No new players will be admitted after the game has started, except to substitute for another player.
§1C. - You may at any time be substituted out by requesting so in the thread.
§1D. - Failure to vote on three occasions will lead to immediate substitution.

§2A. – Players will vote once per 48-hour interval. See Rule 1D.
§2B. – Invalid votes (Voting for Game Moderator/Ghosts) will not be accepted and be considered to be in violation of Rule 2A.
§2C. – In the event of a tie, the Town Mayor gets one (1) additional vote to break the tie.
§2D. - The player(s) with the majority of votes at deadline are considered dead. They will not reveal any inside information after the deadline. The presumed dead player(s) should post in Gray text until their true role is confirmed.

§3A. - Orders and votes submitted after deadline are ignored.
§3B. - Orders (scans, hunts, et cetera) are sent to the Game Moderator via PM.
§3C. - Players are responsible for any Private Messages missed due to inbox being full.

§4A. - Spectators and ghosts may comment, but never suggest a course of action, reveal any new information, including vote counts. Preferably spectators will comment only in a manner tangential to the actual game.
§4B. - When doing ghost/spectator commentary, please use a non-white colour. But not this color, for that is the GM color.

§5. - Alliances and Feuds which aren't based on your characters or roles in the game between players are forbidden. Alliances and Feuds which continue from one game to another undermine the whole idea of the game.

§6A. – The Game Moderator has the last word on all matters.
§6B. – If the Game Moderator makes a mistake (e.g. with the vote count, hunt/scan orders), if critical information has been revealed, the mistake will be kept.

§7A. – Forging PMs is allowed. Screenshots of PMs is not.
§7B. - Posting or quoting of PMs from the GM is not allowed - real or forged.

§8A. – Voting must be done in the following way. Write "VOTE" and the person you are voting for in bold text.
§8B. - If you wish to un-vote someone, write "UNVOTE" and their name in bold text.
§8C. - In case of re-voting without un-voting the original vote will be the counted vote.
§8D. - Do not edit votes after posting them. If you make a mistake, unvote and revote in a new post.
§8E. - Votes should be oversized or clear of other text to ensure they are not missed by the GM.

§9. - The GM can and will remove players if the GM believes that player is adversely affecting the game, for example through failure to fulfill voting obligations or deliberate violation of the rules. This will be done through the use of killing the player's role, or using substitutes, if they are available. All such decisions are made solely at the discretion of the GM.

Who are you?

What are you doing?

Since when has there been more than 1 game at a time?

There isn't going to be. I'm predicting the most recent one will fall by the 1st of April, there's only 15 left... (Besides the Dorf one's still going too, JSYK)

Who am I? I'm spiderman! What am I doing? Starting a new Werewolf topic, thought that was kinda obvious.

He seems like he knows what he's doing, and game starts the eighth so current game should be finished though you should talk to Jacob.

Whose sock puppet are you? Spider-Man's?

Thank you, Tonka. I've played WW before, not on this forum mind, but still. I know my way around a WW game.

EDIT:
Whose sock puppet are you? Spider-Man's?

I was trying to be funny, kinda fell flat.

There is a procedure to determine the host of the next big game, considering the "one game at a time limit" involving this thread.

Oh, is there? My bad. reckon I should delete this and post a request there?

You got spunk, kid.

I hate spunk.

In as a funnybone.

You seem a nice guy, un bonhomme, as it were. But we feel more comfortable with those with whom we have built a certain rapport as a player.

May I ask your overall philosophy regarding werewolf?

By the way, you make reference to certain effects like "Poison" and "Save" without quite elaborating on these. I suggest taking a look at previous games to see how we usually play around here, you may even find some decent ideas to incorporate in your own theme (which is not devoid of interesting things either)

The sticky widget is this:

Do you accept men with flaws? By flaws I mean men who get drunk whenever such a possibility presents itself?

Figure out if this is next game or not.

Tentatively

though I must ask right away if this is going to be normal werewolf or something like that silly champion game with just 1 pack? If it's the latter, then I won't participate.
