Hey there, just wanted to say I'm interested in integrating parts of this mod into VIET. How's the progress on the Cardinal robes going?

Cool, you're always welcome to do so, just give the credit. :)

Which parts of this mod were you looking to add?

The red robes themselves are complete. The problem with them is that there needs to be a way to install them that checks which portrait DLCs a user has installed, since many people have at least 1 portrait DLC missing. It's Paradox policy to make sure that any mod content that features content from DLC make that DLC a requirement, and the (edited) .gfx files from all portrait DLCs has to be included, lest some cultures not have the robes whilst others do. Unless of course, all portrait DLCs become a requirement. It's worth mentioning that although the .gfx files are from the portrait DLC, if someone without the DLC installs them, they won't actually get any of the portraits from the DLC; just a file edited that makes the red robes possible for that particular culture, the actual graphics aren't there though.

I've got someone who was willing to offer help in creating an installer for the clothes, we've yet to see how this would work.

If Paradox's coding isn't competent enough for you to find a workaround to that problem, that's their problem. Release it, and if they say anything...well you'll know!

Then surely that is in line with the policy of "any content that includes DLC content must make sure that it only works if the content is purchased" because it doesn't actually include any DLC content.
It would be similar if I was to say make nose rings that only the Irish can have and then use Irish.gfx files to do this but without the DLC you would still have Western looking Irishmen but with nose rings. I would recommend double checking with Paradox of course.

The logical thing to do is to simply talk with Paradox about it. They're probably open to that logic.

Since it only looked like one file needed to be updated for patch 2.1.1 I did it for myself so I could use this mod. It worked for me so I'm attaching it here for anyone that wants to use it in the short term.

Oh wow, that's quite fantastic. I was busy over the weekend so couldn't get much done in the update, so my apologies for that. I'm going to incorporate this into the compatch tomorrow (just need to test things out and make a couple other minor fixes), I'll be sure to give you credit for what you've done. Thanks.

I'm not worried about credit. It was an exercise for me so that I learn some stuff. In reality, RoI only added a couple of new things to the domestic_religion.gui file. I'm sure you'll find things that I missed, but it just felt too weird only seeing 9 cardinals again. I couldn't play that way!

Are the cardinal robes done yet? :0

In your opinion is possible to have a way for the ruler to choose "his best candidate"?
It annoyed always me a lot that I cannot choose him in particular if I have Free Investiture.
Why my puppet Cardinals should the possibility to choose someone without my consent?

It is possible to "buy" the Papacy? That is implement a way for convince the other candidates to vote for your man?
IMHO these things should have been present in the Old Gods itself...

The current curia mechanics where implemented in the Son of Abraham expansion and not the free patch or any other DLC. The only way to convince someone else to make a cardinal into the pope is to make your candidate more pious, italian or make sure that he have good traits.

Yes but in the end the player has practically no control in this some times I had a god like Chaplain with high learnings and good trait and Italian (or Sicilian as I've used Elective Succession and in the end accidentally I have converted the Italian Empire to be Sicilian or more correctly Sicilian - Norman  ) he was a cardinal too but they voted a random guy with a learning of 5 and bad trait, too! Only one time I had a Pope elected that I could find condivisible but strangely he was a better Chancellor that a Chaplain... it was nevertheless really fun to send my vassal Pope to create claims on Byzantium

So reformulating the question there way to mod who they choose? For example instead of put money in unknown guy (that make him cardinal and then... he votes the same retarded of the others and not himself) convince them to vote the guy I want...

The implement system, indeed, seems to model the modern system in which no one ingest in the Papal election (because who is the Pope is not so important anymore) but in the Middle Ages the Pope was nominated more that elected...

Somewhat yes. But I think it would be pretty hard to modify the election system for all of the changes that it went through in the period of CK2 at ToG we would have the Pope only elected by the clans (thus the whole period of the Saeculum obscurum). But this is partly reflected in the Italian bonus. Of course you could not be a Bishop prior to election either (just ask Pope Formosus - or those whe defended his dead body at trial). Really they kind of picked a middle road that everyone would understand and left it for the whole period.

As for electing someone with less piety...in the timeframe that is hard to argue with, and certainly happened. They were nominated, bullied, elected, and or freely appointed at different times in the scope of CK2. And many times it had nothing to do with their piety.

Frankly I think that some tweaks would probably be good for the elections - perhaps they could be driven by global flags to reflect the different time periods? However, I have not looked at the election code to see what really can be tweaked - but it probably would need to be a sub-mod unto itself as it might get big. And I don't know how Carbon would feel about that kind of scope creep inside this mod.

Love this mod it adds that extra something.
I am curious to know if you're planning on uploading this to Steam Workshop along with the X768 as a sub-mod of course. Also on that note would it be possible to fix the bottom of the X768 version because I play on a X800 so I have a little extra space and would appreciate if the back button could be thrown in at the bottom there where I'm sure X768 resolution won't actually see it but I would and others who have that extra bit of space to work with.
