Please keep reporting false positives with the Validator, and they will likely get fixed. If you are reporting a false positive, it is very useful to copy the error message into the post - you can just select the error message, then press Ctrl+C to copy it.

If no issues are reported on either the Eu4 or Ck2 forums for a week, then a final 1.7 will be released and it will be the last version until a new patch comes out.

This non-on action event should not have a weight multiplier.

This is being reported for both events with is_triggered_only = yes and without. It would be useful to distinguish between the first (written as an on_action, but for some reason not in on_actions) and the second (an MTTH event that had the mean_time_to_happen line edited to weight_multiplier mistakenly.)
 
Is it possible so that the validator would check that any new religion created would have exactly 5 holy sites. Without them mod will crash but it would be nice if validator could say that. Thanks. :)

graphical_culture_type is a new tag, and is a required field for special units as of 2.1.5.6
 
False negatives:
has_objective and cancel_objective are no longer valid (haven't been for quite a while), but are not flagged as errors. (Relevant when updating really old mods.) They were split into xxx_plot and xxx_ambition.
 
(In a character event) ROOT always points to the character getting the event. Nesting ROOT inside FROM like that would just scope back to the person experiencing the event. (In other words, FROM = { ROOT = {} } would scope to the same character as plain ROOT = {})

Edit: Clarified I was referring to character events only.

Obvious addendum: Also the case with CBs. ROOT inside of a FROM refers to the CB's original ROOT character, not FROM.
 
This used to have a warning, then it was removed, though I'm not sure why. Is it possible that there are Ai only events that don't need options?

As long as the [character-based] event is hide_window = yes, then theoretically no options are required so long as an immediate is supplied. These are the so-called 'AI-only' events de jure, as they are governed by ai_chance and friends even when fired on a player character. However, I do always provide an obligatory option = { name = OK } for these type of events in practice, mostly due to habit (presumably from past Validator behavior).

Localization error: Invalid color character 'P' in "§Prebel = no§!\n"

Color character 'P' means Pink and has always meant that.

EDIT:

In total, we have B, C, F, G, K, M, P, R, Y, and Z as localisation color codes and W¤ representing the symbol for personal wealth (ducats, gold, what have you), according to the CKII Modding Wiki.

There will be no further updates for V2, unless a new patch or expansion comes out. There was a rule that after no issues were reported for X time, there would be no further updates. This was to prevent the situation where there were large gaps of time between error reports, so that each minor error required a full release (which isn't complicated, but it adds up and gets annoying). This is also mentioned on the first post of that thread.

Can you guys help? I try to test my mod, I put the directory to the mod and write in the name. But it says the map file is missing, even though I'm only trying to validate characters! How can I fix that?

Do you replace_path the map? That could be causing it.

The Validator gets an exception if you don't have holy sites at all. I know that this is wrong in my mod, but the Validator should not get an exception either. It also crashed when I tried to click the 'V' button to open my text editor.

Can you guys help? I try to test my mod, I put the directory to the mod and write in the name. But it says the map file is missing, even though I'm only trying to validate characters! How can I fix that?

When you say "the directory to the mod", do you mean in the game path you put something like C:\Users\theBowerer\Paradox Interactive\Ck2\mod\some_mod? This field should be the path to the base game, so something like C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\Ck2
 
Do you replace_path the map? That could be causing it.

The Validator gets an exception if you don't have holy sites at all. I know that this is wrong in my mod, but the Validator should not get an exception either. It also crashed when I tried to click the 'V' button to open my text editor.

The holy sites issue should be fixed, but I am unsure why the text editor opening doesn't work. Does this happen for all errors?

If I did not reply to you, then you issue should be fixed, but of course report again if it doesn't seem to be.

Please keep reporting false positives with the Validator, and they will likely get fixed. If you are reporting a false positive, it is very useful to copy the error message into the post - you can just select the error message, then press Ctrl+C to copy it.

If no issues are reported on either the Eu4 or Ck2 forums for a week, then a final 1.7 will be released and it will be the last version until a new patch comes out.
 
If I'm not mistaken, validator don't throw errors about missing "desc" and "picture" in events, but do so for missing "name" in event options. Could it be possible to give errors about all of them as long there isn't "hide_window = yes" and just "picture" as long as event is "letter_event".
