Ok I've got a major case of decision paralysis here.

I know enough about the lore etc to take an interest in the mod, but I don't know enough about it to really know anything about the factions, or to have favourite characters or whatever. This leaves me with an enormous huge map with a billion characters and its too much choice and I don't know what to do.

So what are your favourite starts/what would you recommend to somebody who hasn't played the mod before?

I think SRM wrote a very helpful FAQ about the different races and what makes them unique somewhere around here. :) If that's too condensed for you, I'll gladly give a very short summary.
Personally, the safest start to get a feel for what the hells happening might be in Bretonnia or Reikland. Also the closest to regular CK2.

Can't find that FAQ your talking about so a link or short summary would be great thanks :D

After a courtier refuses a marriage, he quickly leaves your court and comes back to it, and then he's in some sort of weird state where you can't put him on the council or as a commander anymore. How long does that last, does it fix itself eventually?

I there a way to reverse the Ulthuan province decay? Or at least, slow it down, or something like it? If not, there are any plans to implement?

As I recall the decay occurs everytime a province gets sieged and in some other cases as well. There's no plans to change it as Ulthuan and the high elves are on the slow march to extinction. Changing that would be like making Khorne the Chaos God of Kittens and Slaanesh the Chaos God of Tickling.

But if Ulthuan conquers lands in the New World, as provinces there don't decay, so no High Elves extinction...

That's because the Vortex is slowly killing the High Elfs, not High Elf physiology. If they all moved to Lustria, their population wouldn't be in decline and would at least level off. I mean, look at the Dark Elfs and how their numbers have grown (discounting raunchy Atharti/Slaanesh parties).

Yeah, but try telling a high elf their ancestral homeland is slowly killing their races :D

Any way to get titular kingdoms titles like Imperial Middenland? Imperial Middenland looks better than kingdom one, and from the kingdom to ''The Empire'' is a looong way so i need king-tier vassals earlier.

Edit: Also it seems imperial titles got reconquest CB.

What's a good spot to establish a relatively safe Concordate colony?
I can definitely say that the Islands to the north are NOT a good spot. Poor Morrenir, I'm trying to claw myself up, only to fail miserably.

First part no clue, but the reconquests are intended from what I know.

Looking at the files, all of the Empire's dejure Kingdoms should get the reconquest CB.

Don't think you can form new titular-Empires, although if you destroy one of the existing ones you might be able to reform it.
