History:
The history of the Grand Duchy of Chosen is a long and improbable one. Korean refugees from the Chinese invasion of Korea fled to many different areas, both on Earth and beyond. A large contingent, numbering only a few hundred thousand, staked out a site on Mars near a deposit with liquid water and established a government-in-exile for the Republic of Korea there, known at the time as the "Eighth Republic". The government had to deal with some very difficult winters, which made agriculture difficult. It experienced large population drop-offs in its first two years of existence, and an attempted military coup did not manage to improve the situation one bit. Never one to miss an opportunity when it was presented to him, then-Emperor Mikhail III of Eurasia approached the Korean president with a deal. Eurasia was willing to supply all of the food aid and economic assistance the Korean people would need - if they agreed to accept a Eurasian ruler as Grand Duke. The fiercely independent Korean government initially balked, but eventually moderates in his own party began to cave in and threatened to have him impeached - even assassinated - if he did not take the Russian offer. Negotiations ensued. The Koreans insisted upon keeping their Parliament intact, which the Eurasians found distasteful, but eventually worked out an arrangement. The Parliament would be kept and free elections would continue as long as all "communist parties" were banned. The Korean delegation agreed at the time, as they were having their own problems with communist insurgents, but this provision would later prove to be a large problem for Chosen's Korean population.
The Eurasians arrived in force about 10 years after the founding of Korea-in-exile, which the Eurasians would reanme "Chosen". Chosen to serve as Grand Duke was a particularly ambitious Eurasian noble named Rostislav Niyazov, a descendant of the famously eccentric president of Turkmenistan from the 21st century. The Niyazov line had persisted in some form or another down the centuries, and when Eurasia was formed they easily secured the title of Lord of Turkestan. Monarchical rule was a natural fit for the autocratic Niyazovs, and they quickly adapted to it - perhaps too well. Rostislav was working his way up through the court at alarming speed, and some of Emperor Mikhail's advisors who feared for their own positions whispered that Niyazov had designs on the throne himself. Chosen seemed like a perfect place to shunt such a man away from the halls of power, and so Niyazov was "invited" to serve as Grand Duke and governor of the new Eurasian colony.
Niyazov hated his new subjects, and imported many Turkmen, Kazakh and Russian minor nobility and peasants to serve as his bureaucracy and powerbase. Turkmen and Russian overlords owned large plantations and mines that were all staffed with Korean labor. Niyazov added a House of Lords with expansive powers to the Korean Chamber of Deputies, ennobling mostly his Russo-Turkmen allies and a few compliant Koreans to maintain control of political power. What little traces of free politics remained quickly became fractured along ethnic lines, with the Russo-Turkmen Conservative Party on top, the Kazakh-Polish Liberal Party in perpetual second place, and most Korean parties banned as "communists." Despite all the harsh laws against them, the Unionist Party still holds a few seats in the Diet of Chosen and represents Korean interests as best it can.
Owezgeldi Niyazov is the third Grand Duke of Chosen, and continues to extort and oppress his strange little corner of the Empire for all it's worth. Something of a buffoon with little taste for day-to-day politics, Niyazov preoccupies himself with imposing his personal eccentricities across the realm, enacting such bizarre edicts as banning dogs and demanding all men shave their beards daily or face execution. Chosen is deeply unstable and divided along racial lines, and the Imperial Chosenese Army spends more time policing its own citizens than defending them from outside threats. When Niyazov tires of pointless cruelty, he dreams of expanding his realm to eventually encompass all of Mars. Of course, many of his subjects have other ideas...

hey luft...how did he become governor of a european colony of mars?, second yeah you aint gonna get 100 special ops men lol. and lastly likely not governor of all mars..mars is divided into several administration areas each with its governor for the euros as its heavily populated.

This time i actually wasnt shitposting it just seems a bit stupid to pull Putin dynasty out of nowhere. Furthemore By claiming that Putins rule Russia he is infringing upon GM role its him who claims who rules what, so this is not exactly good idea.

(Are there private colonies? I was thinking in being a corporate/research station, in the asteroid belt or in an artificial satellite orbiting a bigger planet)
