I know it doesn't have an impact gameplay wise, but how would you say the world has reacted to the German Empire discovering TN elements and such? Also, RP wise, how has the German Empire established control over the rest of the Earth (since we are controlling all 1.8 billion)?
OTL (our time line, ie: in real life), Einstein received a remarkable amount of public attention for a scientist working in an esoteric field. He was almost mobbed by admirers on some occasions. This started after his GR predictions were confirmed by observation in 1919. So in-game, I expect that his popularity and his appeal to the man-on-the-street would ramp up as soon as his TN theories start getting practical confirmation.

I haven't really thought much about how the Kaiser maintains his grip on other countries... a large Battle-fleet (with superiority over the UK fleet ensured by treaty and shipyard inspections) and a network of client states? Trade dominance tends to be self-perpetuating, and a superior fleet could ensure trade dominance.

Our first military unit (a Garrison battalion) has finished production, and Oberst Lorgar von Wurttemberg has been assigned to lead it. Currently guarding Earth, since we lack any ability to transport it off-planet... or for that matter, any destination for it.

As better units become available (eg: Space Marines) our officers will be reassigned to the best troops available.

We have finally completed Nuclear Thermal Engine technology (enabling us to design specific engine applications for research and development).

Should we design some engines based on this entry-level tech? Or should we push on to the improved Nuclear Pulse Engine technology (requires two additional techs) before designing any specific applications? NP engines are 50% more powerful ton-for-ton than NT engines.

Meanwhile, we are researching Geological Sensors, which our scout-ship will require regardless.

I say we build a few thermal engines so we can get exploring as quickly as possible.

Here's a tentative design for a primitive and minimalist Scout Base PDC (Planetary Defense Complex) which can operate at least three Fighter-sized Scouts, providing hangars, fuel bunkers and accommodations for the off-duty flight crews. It has deliberately been designed not to exceed a 2500-ton limit, so it can be built in pre-fab sections, carried in a freighter's hold, and assembled elsewhere (eg: on Mars) if the situation requires it.

Scout Base class Scout Base 2,500 tons 35 Crew 253.4 BP TCS 50 TH 0 EM 0
Armour 5-16 Sensors 1/0 Damage Control Rating 0 PPV 0
Intended Deployment Time: 3 months Flight Crew Berths 58
Hangar Deck Capacity 1500 tons

Fuel Capacity 100,000 Litres Range N/A

This design is classed as a Planetary Defence Centre and can be pre-fabricated in 1 sections

We don't quite have all the techs that the Scout craft itself requires, so I will post a tentative Scout design a bit later.

We have built a Scout Base PDC on Earth to operate our Scouts, and have designed and prototyped the small NT engine required to power the Scouts. Geological sensors (to search for mineral deposits on planets and moons) are ready to install, and we have built 200 Fighter factories on Earth in preparation for the production run of Scouts.

We still need a couple more techs... our current Engineering modules are too bulky to fit into a craft that small, and research is now underway to miniaturize them. That, plus a lighter hull, should finally drop our design down below the 500-ton limit that allows them to be built in factories instead of in a shipyard.

One more year (1927) should see us launching our first, primitive but serviceable spacecraft.

EDIT: To save some assembly time, our construction factories are currently pre-fabbing the components that our scientists have designed, prototyped and approved for production. Those components will be sent to the Fighter factories, to speed up the assembly of the Scout craft once the last of the techs has been researched.

July 6th, 1927. Our technicians have finally managed to design a Scout craft that meets the mission requirements... 500 tons exactly, and enough range to explore the inner Solar system.

A very primitive craft, but a grand achievement none the less: from the mud and blood of Flanders to the Moon and beyond in only eight years.

Using the components previously pre-fabbed in our factories, it required only 20 days to finish the assembly of our first primitive spacecraft. Typical German efficiency! By the 26th of July, 1927, the first Schmetterling Scout Craft was ready to launch.

With three Scout Craft initially planned, Korvettenkapitans Hyme, Stuckenschmidt and TheExecuter have been selected to fly them. Improved models (with higher speed and better sensors) are already on the drawing boards, and additional Navy personnel will be selected for those missions.

On July 27th, 1927, Korvettenkapitan Hyme is promoted to Fregattenkapitan, and leads humanity into space... destination: the Moon!

Hyme's scan of the Moon revealed no trace of the sought-after Trans-Newtonian minerals, so he continued as planned to search the other bodies of the inner Solar system.

After reaching his maximum designed velocity of 500 kps during the transit to Mercury, Hyme succeeded in locating moderately useful deposits of Corbomite (648,000 tons at 80% concentration) and Gallicite (48,000 tons at 70%) on the innermost planet.

He will continue to search the inner planets for minerals.

The second Schmetterling has been launched, and Korvettenkapitan Stuckenschmidt has been promoted to Fregattenkapitan and ordered to scan four comets that are currently inside the orbit of Jupiter. When he finishes this first task, he will start examining some of the hundreds of Asteroids circling the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Design work is under way to build a transport version of the Schmetterling Scout Craft. It will not carry geological sensors... instead, it will have room for a five-member Geology Team to land on various astronomical bodies (the Moon, to begin with) and examine them for any mineral deposits that the orbital search may have overlooked.

EDIT: Continuing his survey of the inner planets, Hyme has located a large lode of Tritanium on Venus (over 2 million tons at 90% purity) as well as sub-standard deposits of several other elements. Unfortunately, the lethal environment of Venus will limit any potential mining operation to robot mines for the foreseeable future. Stuckenschmidt has found small-to-moderate high-purity deposits of several minerals on the first two comets, and is now headed for the third.

Bernd Vorholz patiently waits for the completion of the first Transport Scout ship for the expedition to the moon.
You will be the first to land on an extraterrestrial body, then... the Geo-Scouts map them from orbit.

EDIT: The Kleinbus class Shuttle is less than half the size of a Schmetterling Geo-survey craft, and carries a Navy crew of four plus a team of five Geologists.

The third Schmetterling (and the last of this first production run) has been launched, and Fregattenkapitan TheExecuter has been assigned the mission of inspecting an approaching comet, then searching the Asteroids for useful minerals.

Production of the first Kleinbus will commence shortly.

Go Hyme, TheExecuter, and Stuckenschmidt. If remember right comets are gold mines for minerals or has that changed? Also how long have we been out scanning so far? I see you only plan on us scanning for 5.5 months at a time. How long does it take to fly from the asteroid belt back to earth?

Also can see my char stats and traits?

May I sign on as a surveyor captain as well, once we begin the next run of survey ships? ^_^

They are surveying fighters not survey ships.

To infinity...and beyond!
