Since its sometimes to hard to find quick matches/ranked matches i started playing lobby games again...

I clearly title my lobbys in a way that should be understandable for everyone... "no beginners", " good players" "lv10+" but the lv 2 players keep swarming my lobbys and those games are more than a waste of time. You stomp the enemy or you get stomped because your teammate doesnt know wth is going on.

I want to kick out people off my lobbys to make sure everyone has a good and a fair game. But no i cant... i have to play 10 matches to play in 1 more or less acceptable match with proper teams, that at least arent over in like 5 min....

Make profiles visible pls...

Yeah make it even harder for new players to find a game, if you grap your new players by the hand and help them out most of them are able to hold their line at some point, okay maybe yo uhave to play 1 or 2 more rounds with them but still... Makeing it elitist game like WG Rd would just suck hard. Maximum that should be seen is the level maybe or number of played matches.
If you get stomped because on of your teammates is a noob than you didnt helped well enough, and its not all about winning (not like in ranked in ranked I also hate it that matchmakeing sucks atm I wanna play against same level and not stomping or being stomped in there).

I think it would actually make it tougher for top players to get into games. But the one thing that's certain is that it would make it harder to get games started. As frustrating as it can be to have a complete noob on the team, I would rather be able to start games smoothly.

This topic has been discussed to death already. Bottom line is that showing profiles is extremely against new players and will drive them away from the game.

While I can understand your frustration towards getting newer or unskilled players join your games, I hope you can understand all the massive downsides having the ability to check other players stats. This will very quickly devolve into what RD faced. If you are a new player, you won't be doing anything but getting absolutely destroyed 99% of the games you play at the beginning because no one will play with you, unless you happen to have a group of friends to play with and even then you will have a hard time getting people join your game because they can see that you are a stack by looking at your pretty much identical amount of games, wins and losses.

When playing as a new player or someone who is relatively unskilled, this is the process you will face:

Step 1: Join a lobby.
Step 2: Check who the Host is.
Step 3: Join the Opposite Team or risk getting kicked/banned from the lobby.
Step 4: Get stomped once the game starts as your side will not have anyone with win-rate above 33% as the host doesn't want to face a challenge.

When playing as a experienced player with at least 50% win-rate:

Step 1: Join a lobby.
Step 2: Check who the Host is.
Step 3: Hope that his side has room or risk getting kicked or banned.
Step 4: Watch as the lobby slowly fills and empties as people either try to get in and get kicked out due to high win-rate or leave because their opponent is heavily stacked with good players.
Step 5: Fall asleep on your keyboard as you crush your opponent easier than the bot.

This is what happened with RD. No smart person would want this system returned.

It is a trade off.

Do you prefer more low quality games or fewer high quality games? During the server problems some months ago, in RD we tested both systems. Without profiles you could find games very fast but the average length of the match was 5-10 minutes. I had a couple of games where the enemy team surrendered during deployment as soon as they saw my rank.

As someone who still regularly plays WG:RD, I find this to be one impressive fairy tale.

Newbies are free to join one of the lobbies that are labeled "noobs only" that regularly pop up. Often there are 1 or 2 of them going at all times, so I fail to see how this is an issue. As an experienced player who doesn't regularly roll with a set team, I simply keep an eye on who joins my team. If the host is shady and tries to launch when it is clearly stacked, then the host gets punished for said shadiness by me (and often others as well) bailing out.

When I host, sorry but if you are joining when I have it clearly labeled "WR 45/50 or higher - balanced teams" and you are only 20%, then too bad, enjoy the free kick. As I already stated, there's rarely a shortage of lobbies for new players to join. Fair number of people gave up on SDN simply because pubstomping got bad for it without the view stats button working.

I remember when stats died on WG:RD when the servers went down. PUBSTOMPS EVERYWHERE. PUBSTOMPS FOR DAYS. PUBSTOMPS WERE LIFE! Out of all the games I played when the servers were down, only 1 was actually balanced and fun. The rest? Horrible pubstomps because you simply could not balance teams unless you stuck with people you knew for both sides. A couple of the nubs I was trying to teach a bit uninstalled because of it, and a lot of experienced players simply stopped playing altogether. All that was left was pubstompers who pubstomped and the unfortunate noobs who wandered into their traps. Pubstompers were happy though "because they could finally get a game." Small wonder when towards the end the player base had dropped significantly below usual levels, and was slow to recover after that.

Many experienced players rejoiced and came back when the servers were finally restored, I know I did. I'm sure pubstompers love this in SDN, because they get all sorts of free and easy wins.

Adding back the plague that made me wait 1 hour to get a game going in WG RD?
NO THANKS YOU, BYE.
Curious, my average wait time is about 5 minutes. Sometimes it does drag on for longer, but as usual I see that fake news is the norm in here.

search ranked while game is in windowed and you do something else on the internet is my suggestion to this problem.

Yeah it would be so cool if people will stop using lobbys and only use quick play for 2v2+ games. But nope. :(

It was more about from 10 up to 30 minutes for real.
I am not a RTS god and i can't carry a whole team by myself.
So i just leave those games where everyone go stack a side because "the profile button" give them this power.

- I do not always want to be on the obviously losing team who's going to be rolled over by a "profile button check auto stack" of 4 up to 10 lvl 70 99% w/r (no fun).

- Ii is boring to get in a game where every veterans stack in my side and we destroy the other side easy mode (no fun, no challenge).

- I do not want to play games where you know right in the lobby 80% of the time which side is going to win (no fun, no challenge, no tension).

- It is tiring to get kicked or moved away because host do not want you in your side but rather the guy with lvl 70 99% w/r (frustrating).

- And many more.

I am done with WG RD lobby slaving meta.
For 10 games played only 2-3 were non stack games with no way to know who is going to win right at the start.

I do not have much problem in SD, i get games fast (minus small player base problems).
I get to see everything from total stomps to balanced games.
Profile button, i do not miss you.

First me and some others have 0 wish to go into ranked slavery.
Then i do not see the need to use the MM QP system right now, since i never got any 3v3/4v4 games while searching.
To finish, you can't even use UI, cosmetics or sounds mods while searching; this hurts.

Lobby everytime everyday!

One of the things that I like the most about ranked is that the map is random, so you can't optimize your deck for a specific map. It would be nice if they added a random map option to custom lobbies.

I agree with the OP in theory, since it's also a nice tool for solo players to avoid stacked teams; I argued for keeping the View Profile button back when we were all playing Red Dragon. Given how much better the lobbies work now that it's gone, though, I think I've given up on that. People use the information for evil far more often than they use it for good.

Pity they dragged their feet on the matchmaking thing, though, because that's the real thing we need. Bringing it in so late in the development process when the entire early access base was already acclimated to lobbies, and even then keeping it squirreled away as not the default play mode until the last minute did it no favors. It should have been there from the start, and probably even have been the only way to play for a month or two before turning on custom lobbies, to seed a base of players using it.

At this point, I think all we can hope is that if the game gets a sequel- and I hope it does because Steel Division is fantastic- they give us better matchmaking and push it harder.

Ok lets see, apparently it all comes down to the fact that new players would have a hard time. Guess what, i also was a new player at some point. Do you know what i did? I started with lobby games and told the ppl that i am new and if i can still play. When i had the basics i played 1vs1 ranks and teached myself how to play this game properly. At some point i hit top 20 in the ladder.

Why can i do it but evrybody else cant?

There is no matchmaking in ranked games at all, so most of the time i have to play against beginners. Its the same with lobby games. Why do beginners sneak up into lobby games with the title "NO BEGINNER" and dont tell anybody? How can i balance out the teams as host? If its absolutely impossible to have fair games, than this game will die further and the veterans including me start leaving this game because its boring having absolutely no competiton at all or getting stomped.

BTW if i lose a game to 2 good players because my mate just started the game i didnt lost because i didnt help him enough... such a bad argument... i lost because its impossible at some point. i instantly go -2 even if pushed forward like crazy. "GG" after 5 min. What a fun game it is without any balance.

Its not the job of the veterans to teach newbies how to play this game or giving them a fun time. Its their job. They should play against other newbies before destroying the games of us. Every good game has a matchmaking so people play with their skill class. And no, its not all about winning. But for every competitive minded person winning is something they enjoy, because that shows that you have learned the game in a proper way. If you beat the best players in the ladder from time to time you achieved something. Idc if i lose a hard and fair game. But if i lose without having any chance because of beginners asking me how to deploy units ,i cant even learn something from my losses. Its no fun at all...

But no, i have to play with beginners only until i am tired of playing this game. Thank you!

If you've played long enough to class yourself as a veteran player, you should know most of the others...so host private games. That means that 'new players' won't have to interrupt your privileged perception of the player base.

Yours is not a particularly helpful attitude in a game that needs to draw more players in.

It's not like playing solo as an experienced player with a functional View Player button was any fun in Red Dragon. I did that for a while and eventually quit until my regular 2v2 buddy from ALB bought the game. You either spend an hour looking for a game, or accept that 80% of the matches you play at are hopeless because the lobby host has a stacked team and you're paired with joe random. It was no fun at all. I don't imagine Steel Division would be any better.

As a 2v2 player, I also got the joy of joining a half-full lobby with a partner and being kicked by two guys with an 86% win rate. My partner and I had sub-60% win rates because we'd take on all comers, so it's not like we were stacking against them; they just were willful pub-stompers.

In both use cases, finding a match also took forever because instead of just playing the darn game people would form a dozen half-full lobbies in the hopes that they could get a favorable pairing.

Even if you're a good actor who wants "good and fair" battles, most people aren't; they want to find matches they can win. Veteran players are even worse than new players when it comes to using the View Profile button to break the play experience for everyone else, IME, so I don't really agree with the "why do new players get to ruin the game for me?" angle. (as much as I do genuinely feel your pain- it sucks and drove me to stop playing RD alone)

I wanted to like View Profile, but it was a miserable experience. It just didn't work.

Why don't you add some good players to play with (and against) to your friend list? That's a good idea if you want even games.
