This topic has been discussed to death already. Bottom line is that showing profiles is extremely against new players and will drive them away from the game.
While I can understand your frustration towards getting newer or unskilled players join your games, I hope you can understand all the massive downsides having the ability to check other players stats. This will very quickly devolve into what RD faced. If you are a new player, you won't be doing anything but getting absolutely destroyed 99% of the games you play at the beginning because no one will play with you, unless you happen to have a group of friends to play with and even then you will have a hard time getting people join your game because they can see that you are a stack by looking at your pretty much identical amount of games, wins and losses.
When playing as a new player or someone who is relatively unskilled, this is the process you will face:
Step 1: Join a lobby.
Step 2: Check who the Host is.
Step 3: Join the Opposite Team or risk getting kicked/banned from the lobby.
Step 4: Get stomped once the game starts as your side will not have anyone with win-rate above 33% as the host doesn't want to face a challenge.
When playing as a experienced player with at least 50% win-rate:
Step 1: Join a lobby.
Step 2: Check who the Host is.
Step 3: Hope that his side has room or risk getting kicked or banned.
Step 4: Watch as the lobby slowly fills and empties as people either try to get in and get kicked out due to high win-rate or leave because their opponent is heavily stacked with good players.
Step 5: Fall asleep on your keyboard as you crush your opponent easier than the bot.
This is what happened with RD. No smart person would want this system returned.
As someone who still regularly plays WG:RD, I find this to be one impressive fairy tale.
Newbies are free to join one of the lobbies that are labeled "noobs only" that regularly pop up. Often there are 1 or 2 of them going at all times, so I fail to see how this is an issue. As an experienced player who doesn't regularly roll with a set team, I simply keep an eye on who joins my team. If the host is shady and tries to launch when it is clearly stacked, then the host gets punished for said shadiness by me (and often others as well) bailing out.
When I host, sorry but if you are joining when I have it clearly labeled "WR 45/50 or higher - balanced teams" and you are only 20%, then too bad, enjoy the free kick. As I already stated, there's rarely a shortage of lobbies for new players to join. Fair number of people gave up on SDN simply because pubstomping got bad for it without the view stats button working.
I remember when stats died on WG:RD when the servers went down.
PUBSTOMPS EVERYWHERE. PUBSTOMPS FOR DAYS. PUBSTOMPS WERE LIFE! Out of all the games I played when the servers were down, only 1 was actually balanced and fun. The rest? Horrible pubstomps because you simply could not balance teams unless you stuck with people you knew for both sides. A couple of the nubs I was trying to teach a bit uninstalled because of it, and a lot of experienced players simply stopped playing altogether. All that was left was pubstompers who pubstomped and the unfortunate noobs who wandered into their traps. Pubstompers were happy though "because they could finally get a game." Small wonder when towards the end the player base had dropped significantly below usual levels, and was slow to recover after that.
Many experienced players rejoiced and came back when the servers were finally restored, I know I did. I'm sure pubstompers love this in SDN, because they get all sorts of free and easy wins.
Adding back the plague that made me wait 1 hour to get a game going in WG RD?
NO THANKS YOU, BYE.
Curious, my average wait time is about 5 minutes. Sometimes it does drag on for longer, but as usual I see that fake news is the norm in here.
