CK2 Dev Diary #87 - Killing Spree

Greetings!

Today I’ll cover a minor feature of the upcoming Holy Fury expansion, the ‘Kill List’. The Kill List is, simply put, a list of everyone a character has killed and how they died. The list is accessed from a button in the character interface, in our example here we have a typical incarnation of Genghis Khan:

This button is visible on all characters, living or dead, and shows a list of all kills that are public knowledge (so you can’t see any secret kills a character might have). The list itself will open to the right of the character interface, and looks like this:

Now, while there aren’t many actual gameplay effects tied to this feature (save a few events) you might still feel inclined to become a murderous tyrant. If you so happen to kill more than 5 other characters, you will enter the Ledger - where the most depraved killers are listed at the top. For some reason, characters with a Reformed Pagan religion using the Bloodthirsty Gods doctrine tend to top the lists... more on that in the next Dev Diary!

Now all I need is info somewhere on what charges someone got locked up on so I can exact proper justice. Would be sweet to get to choose our execution instead of just having it be random, too.

Do secret kills get revealed after the characters death? What about if you're playing as their heir? It'd be neat if my Varys-type characters dodged most of the accusations while they lived but through a combination of rumor, fact and slander their true nature would be revealed after death. It'd be a way to give the best serial killera their due in the rankings.

You made space in the character screen only to add a button to "check out" the already murdered characters?.

Well that's....
it's...
dumb.

I understand why secret kills aren't going to be displayed especially in an Ironman game. But is there any chance to make it a switchable rule for non-ironman, or like others have suggested maybe when the character dies we can see all the secret kills.

Sometimes I'm just curious what characters have been up to.

I hope next week we'll have an "Adapting Austria" dev diary detailing the Austrian map changes!

I don't think this sounds like the solution to the "Why can I imprison this random person?" and I'm still waiting on a feature to investigate suspicious deaths. It's not a terrible feature this kill count, just a little dry and a hell of a lot different than I am hoping for when it comes to deaths.

Like it a lot!
But one thing irks me, is that there's no distinction between "legit" kills (accepted by your court) and "tyrannical kills" (enraged by your court).
Can we have a tooltip over the kill for the modifiers you got when the kill happened?
And achievement idea: "Inigo Montoya" for if you successfully kill whoever killed your father, in a duel of course! :p
