Hmm I should get a Frederick The Great outfit....

I think that this is where I take farewell of this dev-clash, since it looks like the remainder is going to be not so interesting (and there are more things competing for my time right now).

While I like that you experiment with different concepts, I regrettably has to say that this has been the worst I have watched in terms of suspense. Especially since it seems that nearly everyone in Europe are taking hugboxing to the next level. It seems like there is an attitude of: "Can't win, let's hugbox harder to start alliance building for the next dev-clash"

Things I liked:
- Indian thunderdome
- Battlepope, and Battlepope vs Battledoge
- Kaiser Johan's amusing mishaps

Things I didn't like:
- Scoring system
- Marketing sea selling out
- Tunnelvision from casters (Do we need a feature where the game gives an audio-cue when the blue flames occur?)
- Something about the player distribution made the game awkward. With two concentration of players, with large gaps between it, it becomes hard to dethrone someone who becomes hegemon in their area. More players needed in Middle-East and Africa, maybe?
- Fake wars - as in honor alliance, but don't help out.
- Pan-European hugbox last session.

- Scoring system

I'll still watch the rest of this dev clash simply because i've got the time and i'm looking forward to the New World vs Old World clash, but i have to agree with you about the scoring

It was an interesting concept at first and definitely worth a try but i think it narrows down the possible people who still have a shot to the top 3 places to soon.

There are many players right now who have no chance at all to win anything because they had no or little score in the first two ages and therefore probably see no reason to break out of hugboxes which makes things not as exciting as it could have been.

It also means that either everyone picks minor nations with good expansion possibilities other than just colonizing or everyone picks major nations if they want any chance at getting score in the Age of Discovery and maybe even the Age of Reformation

Nobody, except for certain new players, were allowed to have any large nations this campaign.

Yeah I agree. Was a good concept, and I do want some way to make sure that good performance early and midways in the game is rewarded, but this just isn't it. It very fast locked away who had a chance of getting in top three and now there's several people who even if they absolutely excel wouldn't have any real chance anymore, outside of fully annexing all the top players.

Just a wild suggestion...

Turn the MP into a proper Death Match?! Prussia had the right idea in their tagline but never delivered. And no, we do not talk about taking capitals and laughing your ass off, Starnan before making them vassals.

The person that kills a player completely gets three points. If you kill them in an alliance of players, each player gets ONE point during that war. This promotes egoism to gain more points by finishing them off on your terms and to come to someones aid before they die to prevent others from gaining kill points. I can already see people thinking "with max absolutism and this tech you could eat 150% of him..." when thinking how much to eat in their own war to not fear someone eating them up in the next while there is a truce (to be broken).

A Deathmatch gives everyone a shot at winning, promotes the early slaying of growing blobs, and rewards early successful kills in the long run.

Of course if you respawn people in this instance, they need to get nations at least as big as the midrange players. Otherwise you just offer new point food.

A good old fashioned death match. Killing players gives points. Go out there, take names and earn those titles of player slayer that Starnan and Wizz left vacant.

Jake on stream upon seeing KJ taking New York:
Niuew Amsterdam still full Portuguese. Come on Bratyn...

Seems we have DDRforgetful, because I'm pretty sure this change prevented Bratyn changing the culture of Niuew Amsterdam.
- Can no longer convert culture or religion on territory provinces.

Jake on stream seeing that KJ took Taiwan noting:
And it's still animist [in 1727]. Impressive.

Seems we have DDRforgetful, because I'm pretty sure that Ming didn't convert Taiwan because they just don't have the states to state Taiwan and decided to state other states. And as Taiwan is a TC province it won't convert immediately upon being colonised, but will remain the original culture and religion. And as Ming is in Asia no TC for Taiwan too.

I didn't mean in the dev clash. I meant using this mechanic in general.

Simul in Crucem

As the war with Venice ended the Northern Italian lands are again under a single banner. It's our duty, as the Protector of Italy, to defend our Italian brethren that live outside out of the Italian borders. For this specific reason, I, Pope Clemens XIV, Vicarius Christi, Protector of Italy and the Italian People, declare my support for the Venetian brethren. Our rivalry was harsh, our wars bloody. But before that we were allies, united against common enemies. I hope that from this a new, stronger alliance will born.

- Pope Clemens XIV
