Werewolf Lite CDXXVIII - Fire in the Lake

The year is 1968, and the Vietnam War shows no sign of ending. With the Tet Offensive having come and gone, morale on the home front has reached an all-time low, however, in the fields of Vietnam, no reduction of military personnel has yet to occur, and it seems unlikely to occur for some time.

You are a soldier in a US platoon during these dark times, and while you wish more than anything to return home safe and alive, there are those among you who wish to get out of Vietnam sooner, and reason that if casualties in your platoon get high enough, high command might decide to pull the survivors out before the entire platoon gets destroyed. Of course, waiting for the next Vietcong attack to do the job for them will take too long, so they've decided to grease the wheels, so to speak, and make sure some of their comrades die in "accidents."

Unbeknownst to them, however, one of you is an Army disciplinary officer, and has orders to find such people who seek to get out of Vietnam in underhanded ways, and court martial them, with the strictest punishments assigned to those found guilty.

Will you survive Vietnam?

Rules:

17 players will be taking part in this game. There can be no more than 17 players and sign ups will be closed once the number of players reaches 17. However, it is also possible to have the game start with less than 17 players should the GM deem it necessary - in this case arrangements will be made to accommodate the restricted number of players.

The game will start once the GM says so in the thread, and only then. The game will only be officially started once every player has received their role. Night 0 will fall on the first deadline after the game start, with a minimum of 24 hours before game start and Night 0.

The game will then proceed with a day/night cycle. During the day, players will vote to lynch one of them. The player with the most votes at deadline this day will be lynched. Should several players have the same number of votes, all will be lynched. Any vote posted at or after the time specified as deadline will not be counted.

The night deadline falls at the same time as the day deadline. Before the deadline, players whose roles can act during the night can contact the GM to tell him which action they wish to do that night. Any order given at or after the time specified as deadline will be ignored.

Possible roles:

US Army Soldiers (12): Desperate men who just want to live long enough to see the job done and get home safely, preferably with as many of you alive as possible. While unable to determine which of your comrades' opinions are dangerous, and which are just common thoughts you all share, they are able to work together to single out one person to have court martialed, and hope that it is one of the insane members of the unit.

Insane Killers (4): These men have been through one too many Vietcong raids, and are now desperate to leave Vietnam, no matter the cost, and if that cost is the deaths of their brothers in arms, then so be it.

May design each night one villager who will die.

Disciplinary Officer (1): This officer is dressed as a plain-clothed Army Private for his current mission of determining which soldiers in the platoon might secretly be plotting to get out of Vietnam through underhanded means like purposely getting themselves wounded... If only he knew what those men were really willing to do.

May design each night one villager to know his role (US Army Soldier or Insane Killer).
Victory:

The US Army Soldiers and Disciplinary Officer win once every Insane KIller is court martialed (lynched), ensuring that the rest of the tour of duty can proceed quietly (or as quiet as a tour of duty in Vietnam can be).

Insane Killers win once they are exactly half of the remaining players, or greater, at which point they overwhelm their remaining comrades to gain victory, and get that redeployment they desire.

Detailed rules:

Spoilered for convenience, but every player is encouraged to read them (especially newer players)

Full Rules:

§1A. - You sign up to the game by requesting so in a post in this thread.
§1B. - No new players will be admitted after the game has started, EXCEPT if substituting for another player.
§1C. - You may at any time be substituted out by requesting so in the thread.
§1D. - Players are responsible for any Private Messages (PMs) missed due to inbox being full.

§2. - Orders and votes submitted after deadline are ignored.

§3A. – Players will vote daily. Should they not vote, THEY WILL BE REPLACED. There will be no exceptions unless the Game Moderator states otherwise.
§3B. – Invalid votes (Voting for Game Moderator/Ghosts) will not be accepted.
§3C. – In the event of a TIE, ALL TIED players will be executed.
§3D. - The player(s) with the majority of votes at deadline is considered dead. He will not reveal any inside information after the deadline.

§4A. - SPECTATORS AND GHOSTS MAY HAUNT, TAUNT AND FLAUNT, BUT NEVER SUGGEST ANY COURSE OF ACTION OR REVEAL ANY INFORMATION. ANY ACTION WHICH CAN AFFECT TO THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME IS FORBIDDEN. ANYONE CAUGHT DOING IT WILL BE *PERMANENTLY* BANNED FROM PARTICIPATION. NO EXCUSES ARE VALID.
§4B. - When doing ghost/spectator commentary, please use a non-white colour.

§5. - Alliances and Feuds which aren't based on your characters or roles in the game between players are forbidden. Alliances and Feuds which continue from one game to another undermine the whole idea of the game.

§7B. - PMs from the Game Moderator may not be quoted or forged.
§8. – Voting must be done in the following way. Write "VOTE" and the person you are voting for in size 5 bold text. For example:

If you wish to un-vote someone, write "UNVOTE":

UNVOTE EUROO7, VOTE EUROO8

Any other type of voting will not be counted and will make you eligible for subbing. In case of re-voting without un-voting the original vote will be the counted vote. DO NOT EDIT VOTES AFTER POSTING THEM.

§9. - The GM can and will remove players if the GM believes the player is not participating at his/her full capacity. This will be done through the use of killing the player's role, or using substitutes, if they are available. All such decisions are made solely at the discretion of the GM. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE GAME IF YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T PARTICIPATE.

§10A. – Trust no one. Especially not the GM.
§10B. - Always Trust the GM.

§11. - The GM reserves the right to kill everyone and end the game if players do not please the GM.

Good to see you again, Randy!
I really love to see you play again.

I, too, love it when Randy is Randy. (For Werewolf, you pervert.)

I, too, love it when I am being Randy. *Nods sagely*

Gonna start sending out invites tomorrow, hopefully we can get this thing started within a couple more days.

And I almost forgot WW existed
Whihc probably is a big part of why we keep losing people. Them being busy for a bit and then forgetting about the game existing.

Anyway, good to have you back!
