I only just got the game (premium edition) after getting into Age of Wonders 3 and found out there was some cosmetic dlc bonus, will I forever not have access to these? Or will they be purchasable at some point?

They don't come with the purchasable pre-order content do they, it's just the emperor set?

Man I would whinge about this but I'll just "liberate" it at some point I suppose.

On another note researching the topic made me find out Age of Wonders 3 had the same thing, anyone know the name of the cut content? I'll go "free" that too.

I’m waiting patiently for console users get access to the preorder bonuses at some point down the line as well...

Hopefully it happens.

Hey Bigbossdanklord, as far as I am aware there are currently no plans to make the Sign-Up Content available outside of the Newsletter Sign-Up promotion. Whether this changes down the line or whether they'll use it for a new promotion I wouldn't know. @TheChubbyBarb We did make the Pre-Order Content Pack (Paragon Noble) available for purchase a couple of weeks ago. If it doesn't appear in your regional PlayStation Store please let us know and we'll investigate.

Took a look and saw it!

Thanks for the heads up. Now I’m off to create some new commanders with floaty postures.

Yeah but you could of had cowboys/bandits if you had the newsletter dlc too haha. I just found the newsletter dlc in the game files on steam, annoying that the content is locked but we all have it installed.

It is pretty lame, but hopefully we are given a chance to the content in the future...

Hopefully the upcoming DLC’s add some extra commander customization options to help cushion the blow.

Content is always present/installed even if one doesn't own that specific DLC/Expansion. This allows Online Multiplayer between players that do and do not have specific DLC's/Expansions. For Example you can join a Session that is using Revelations content and make full use of the added RMG content i.e. Anomalous Sites, Wildlife Units and Landmarks/Exploration Sites that are normally unavailable to you. Or vice versa somebody can join your game and use their Herritor Commander even if you don't own the Revelations Expansion. In the case of Cosmetic Content this makes sure that when you play online and somebody else is using (some of) those Customisations they don't appear as a floating heads or limbs. I hope that clarifies it somewhat.

Is there anyway to ask the people who got to make these decisions why it happened like that and why there's no plans to make the content available?

This is my current steam review for the just the base Pre-Order content:

*****
Exclusive DLC is a bane on an otherwise enjoyable game.
So Pre-Order Content is fine if its purchasable at a later date. But this pack isnt all the Pre-Order content for the game.
Before its release and tied to signing up for a newsletter, there were 3 more content packs none of which are available separate for purchase. Now I'd happily pay for it but as a newcomer in 2020 to the Age of Wonders franchise and now owning all of them, I find it annoying I miss out.
The same thing happened with their Age of Wonders III Pre-Order content.
I want to be able to get the content, I'm happy to pay for the content, yet there is no plan to release the content to me in a legally obtainable way.

It feels like I'm being punished for not being aware of the game series until now. Yet I like the game and would like to see more content and more games in the future. Its an odd predicament to be faced with, I don't think even EA practices DLC policies like this anymore (because we all know how much we enjoyed the exclusive content EA used to lock to the disc, am I right?).
I'd like to be a fan of this series and support it. But I don't like being excluded from content I didn't even get a chance to opt out of.
Food for thought.
*****
Now I don't want to insult anyone, I just want to know, is there a way to be told what the decision not to release it as paid for content after the fact to someone who could be a loyal customer, one day, potentially on the next release and extending to the current releases of upcoming DLC. Like I would take it lying down from Activision because they are a massive company and they're doing exclusives with like Mountain Dew and these are proper promotional tie ins, where money we don't know about was exchanged for the deal, so they had to stick to the deal like the one they have with Sony for timed exclusivity.

I assume with these cosmetics there was no monetary value to the content and it was made as a fan service? Unless it was to secure pre-orders exclusively.

Basically what is the moral or monetary objection to releasing this currently exclusive content? Is there possibly a reason beyond the blanket statement of "We have no plans to release it at this time, and we didn't do it for Age of Wonders 3 either." If it was supposed to be content made for fans, why was it only made for the fans you had at the time, and not then available to someone whose entered the series, bought all actually available content and would like to be invested in future releases.

This game is like an amalgamation of different games I already love and I'm enjoying it a lot, but I am a little cheesed that I didn't get a choice to be excluded from the exclusive content and I'd like a why. At least with EA and Activision I can go oh because they're bastards and it's about money. I can see it was a product choice and not so much a passion one. I wanna get behind these games like I do Crusader Kings and Civilization, but I wanna do it out of my own passion and not obligation and fear of missing out.

Like I said as far as I'm aware we don't have any plans currently, I'm not part of the marketing team. At launch there weren't any plans to release the Pre-Order content either, so those are things that can change as time moves forward. The content in question was created for the Sign-Up/Newsletter Promotion specifically, so they might decide to run another sign-up promotion at a later date and use the content for that as well.

The only missing content is the on from the sign-up. At least you are not the only one:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/newsletter-sign-up-bonuses.1231432/

But many of that content was mostly cosmetic content. IIRC, the game soundtrack, some walpapers and cosmetic helms. In this other page i found this:
8ec259ea62fafb7099ee9698831633a294c51a43.jpg

It was cosmetic content, nothing that alter the game or gives someone an unfair advantage. Don't worry about things you can't change or get and enjoy the game :D

I agree that people shouldn’t let cosmetics stop them from enjoying a great game like Planetfall, but just because cosmetics aren’t important to you, doesn’t mean that they aren’t important to everyone else...

While I do enjoy extra content and am looking forward to the new additions that will be added, if the only thing that would have been added were just commander customizations and no new gameplay features, I would be more than happy.

Some people, like myself, don’t really play multiplayer, so we probably wouldn’t care about content that would give an extra advantage over others.

In fact, the really big reason I picked up revelations was because of the extra torsos and hoods that it added to customization (I haven’t touched the campaign, haven’t played on a Tomb World, and have only recently tried out the Heritor Tech).

Don’t be surprised to learn that, in the real world, people have opinions of their own.

Actually Ridixo the thread you posted to links to a reddit AMA Triumph had where you can read this response from 8 months ago .

"JimJ4m

The signup bonus is closed at the moment yes, but we will look into good ways to offer those items again in the future."

So I guess hope isn't lost entirely.

Jordi can you confrim that at all?

And at Ridixo whats wrong with wanting to be a space cowboy? I understand that it doesn't affect the gameplay of the game, but enjoyment does take a hit if I'm going to be staring at this game for 500 plus hours of my life , Its the same reason I have the Lithoids, Humanoids, Plantoids packs for Stellaris, the same reason people will be buying the Magna Graecia pack for Imperator, flavour in these long ass strategy games is pretty integral to them keeping your interest over time.

That is exactly what i am saying

There is nothing wrong, who said otherwise?

What i was saying is that the content is pure cosmetic, therefore it can or not be used according to the player wishes. If a person has it available then he can enjoy it, if not, as it appear to be the case, then that person can still enjoy the game. Which, by the way, is more than i can do right now :(

It was rhetorical, no one said otherwise obviously, and it might not affect my enjoyment but it does affect me. I was not arguing that I should have access to the DLC on the basis of my enjoyment of the game being improved.

I wasn't saying that, like there are communication difficulties, I hope you get the bonus. I checked Steam and one of the bonus for pre-ordering the game is out as a DLC called "Age of Wonders: Planetfall Pre-Order Content". In time there may be a DLC for the sign-up content. Since you mentioned Stellaris, i think it may be the case with the Anniversary portraits pack, which included some of the pre-order bonus for free. Who knows? Maybe for August you can grab the Sign-up content pack and i the game. Hope that would be the case :D

Agreed...

I’m a sucker for cosmetics...

They are also welcome additions for role playing, which is something I occasionally do when playing video games.

That is exactly what i am saying

I know...

That’s why I started my post by saying “I agree” :D

Also...

Not sure what’s going on on your end that’s keeping you from enjoying the game, but hopefully you’re staying safe and whatever the problem is gets resolved soon.

I'm all for preorder content being available to everyone later down the road. Its an content that has been produced, limiting it to the super few people for all eternity just doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for your words, but sadly it isn't. I don't meet the system requirement of the game. So i am cut of the fun for a while :(
Still for my birthday i will buy myself the game, requirements or not :D

Hope you and the Triumph people is safe too. My best wishes to all of you :)
Keep busy playing the game, but a Xeno-plague run doesn't looks like the best thing right now

That sucks. Hopefully you get a chance to play it soon. Since having to be laid off, sports being canceled, and not being able to go to the gym, Planetfall has been a big part of what is keeping me from losing my mind.

Also, I hope you have a great birthday.
