I really like this game. It nails the style and it's fun to play (at least for me), and it feels shitty to be abandoned in this way, by both Paradox and Romero. The only good news I can find is on the Nintendo store, which tells us that it ''will'' be released in mid 2023.

The lack of communication doesn’t look promising. But then if it isn’t, it still being available for pre-order is taking the Mickey.

I feel shafted at this point. I don't expect to be given details, but do expect to at least receive a statement along the lines of "we are aware that many of you have paid for an additional DLC. It is our intention to release this in the coming months".

That's all I want.

It's a scam. Why are they still selling this expansion pass if they can't work on it? This mustn't be legal. It's been over a year and this Expansion 2 has not released. This is something people paid for. When you go to Romero Games discord, they refer you back here to talk to Paradox. More silence. No announcement on if the game is abandoned or not.

It's illegal for Romero to do this, and apparently they don't give two shits? Moment someone comes knocking to Romero they'll have to fold or have their game taken down.

It isn’t Romero who ‘have done this’. It’s Paradox who control the purse strings as the publisher and they took the money (in my case) via Steam. And Romero can’t address the situation as they’ll be under a non disclosure clause in their contract.

I’m not sure that you understand how contracts between devs and publishers work. Romero can’t just pull out as that would be breach of contract but there was probably a clause where Paradox would pull the plug if for example sales weren’t enough to continue the project which I speculate might be the reason given how the game was received.

And this is my whole point... Paradox would not sell two DLC if there wasn't a contract for it, you don't sell something you don't own. Which makes it pretty likely Romero games pulled out breaching the contract... as I said, in the end I don't want to play the blame game, because if they don't develop anymore and Paradox still sells the "coming" DLC it's also wrong. All I want is either a "mea culpa" paired with a partial refund or whatever or a "we are still working".
The current situation helps no one. The only thing it does is make me want to go Donovan on Brenda. Cue scene: Family Guy - Where's my money?

I don't have Twitter or I would spam Brenda and Johns twitter ... they are promoting a new FPS, so it just reasonable to ask all the time if they will finish their last project before talking about the next one(Mostly Brendas child, but no reason to not bother John *shrug*).
If they say did their part we at least know we should bother Paradox to stop selling DLC2.

The product is still on sale so at this point, it's an ongoing fraud scheme for both Romero and Paradox and if they get sued all buyers will be entitled to a refund and additional compensation, as well as big fees for both the developer and publisher.

It's absolutely inexcusable that expansion pack #2 is still on sale. Paradox, wtf?!? You already fooled customers with the season pass. Why do you allow this to happen? Is this really what lawyers told you to do, so no one can sue you after 3 years?
Seriously, I have played PDX games since 2007 - I would have never expected this kind of business conduct. It's already sad that you cold-dropped EoS, keeping the second DLC on sale is making things a lot worse. There is time for an explanation, this is getting justiciable. This is not the glory old days of chatting with Johan about history - this is cold hard greedy capitalism with no mercy for the customer. Shameless.
