After their next attempt to fix the fundamentally broken frontline system fails, and the next few DLCs flop, i expect end of development notice in 2025.

Being honest and optimistic: I think by the end of the year, the game transitions to being excellent.

IMO, there's 3 "unfun/unimmersive" areas in the game: warfare, trade, and diplo plays.
The next update is supposed to target the first two, and diplo play reworks are in scope at some point this year.

Fix those, spend some time on balance, and add 1-2 cool features (eg the naval rework), and I think the game is in a really excellent state.

I'd like to see them add corruption, centralization x decentralization, unilateral trade deals, possibility to flood a market with a good even if it means paying huge swaths of money..

Also it would be really nice to be able to see lots of info graphics, some information displayed are 1 year long saved data, give us a ledger with all the data from game start.

Internal Politics with Parliaments, Cabinets and different Election Types
I sincerely hope we don't see any politics till 2029 as that would mean it came before fixing War, Navy, Logistics, Finance, Technology and Companies. Politics in general and the political movements systems are one of the most complete systems.

I'll probably write a big thread about it, but mostly I'm waiting for
0) massively improving visibility of what's happening within the game (adding dashboards, charts, ledgers with filters)
1) army fix (mostly bug fixing and maybe simplifying the system we have)
2) navy rework (making navies more complicated and distinct from armies, mostly through improving the order system on HoI4 lines and making ships count individually and be actually sunk)
3) making investment make sense (adding transparent indicators of how likely investors are going to return their money, economically and politically, and making investors act upon those indicators instead of receiving a gift from the IP "when it's their turn")

After this all is done, we will be ready for a massive WW1 update in 2026.

1) Fixing the war on land (right now this is the most frustrating thing for me in this game). It's definitely worth changing, and in free patches, possibly in the form of open beta testing and receiving the most extensive feedback. And it's definitely a priority, because building houses is fun, but it gets boring quickly.
2) The correction of naval incursions is the second priority and also free of charge (they should be clear), maritime countries should be able to mess with the fleet in order to implement it. The navy can loot goods and convoys for the benefit of its country. Paid features - there may be some dreadnoughts, but not unstable ones, just unique ones, cruise liners, airships.
3) Paid DLC - unique laws for different top countries (it makes no sense to do paid things for conditional Sokoto), more variations of power units, the possibility of organizing co-financing of large enterprises and construction projects by states. Lending by states with variable interest rates. The possibility of buying up the property of debtor countries. The ability to impose pacts on countries for financing. Money should not go anywhere (after the conquest and annexation of countries).
4) I agree with the author above that investments should be understandable to the investor (the state). No one will invest without giving back, either financially or politically.
5) It is unclear exactly how the population is formed, we need a clear schedule.
6) A system of laws for everyone is possible in the form of DLC (by increasing the number of laws, the base adoption time should be slightly reduced): aimed at the navy, international policy, investment policy, construction policy (built by cheap migrants or professionals), laws on the distribution of essential goods in society, they are accessible to all by subsidizing to the right standard of living or each for himself, laws on scientific research (applied or fundamental), laws on urbanization.
7) Add products
8) Add the ability to accumulate goods in warehouses
9) Houses are the basis of the game, so there should be more different houses.
10) More research (and compensation for this is a reduction in research time), implement mutually exclusive research branches.
11) Travel of the population (transatlantic trips, trips to monuments and shrines, fairs)
12) Holidays in different countries (New year, Christmas, traditional holidays) and at this time consumption is growing and happiness is increasing.
13) Cabinet of Ministers/Royal Advisers.
14) To give the opportunity to independently create parties and select their ideology in the later stages of the game after 1900
15) Election promises in the republics
16) Military and other types of taxes

Do not abandon the game, at least until EU5 is released, and for a couple more years after its release until it is perfected.

While I do think the frontline system is fundimentally broken, and I don't think any rework that uses it as a base will ever succeed at fixing it, I don't think vic 3 will see an end of development in 2025.

While I personally thought the DLC was awful, spheres of influence was undoubtedly a success, both critically and sales-wise, and that alone has bought vic 3 at some extra life support.

Completely agreed!

So has this happened yet? Just checking
No, because in order for DLCs to flop, they need to be released first. There was no way anything could flop, because they've released nothing (worth talking about) for like a year.

Their last DLC (Pivot of Empire) sits at "comfortable" 46% positive reviews. Everything i've said expect for the year could still happen, their next attempt to fix warfare could fail, and the DLCs could very well flop, and if that happens the game will probably be put down.

Yeah, to be fair, even if you don’t share the negative expectations (I don’t either), this is all still plausible, and he can’t be proved wrong until July.

Always with the negative waves man, always with the negative waves
