I get its meant to be some fun models to work with, but not even I can point out if the game is a serious sandbox or not, it has both elements at this point, even some focus trees go towards the serious side while others completely kick the bucket entirely. Can't present content be addressed for a couple of months? War efforts take too long and change too little, unfortunately.

This is very sad.

All we want is better AI and more robust game systems. The battle UI could use a refresh to better explain what's happening.

Interesting concepts from certain nation-specific focus trees could be made universal, part of the base game.

Instead we have helicopter tanks.
Incredibly disappointing.

Some of these are cool and make sense for the game (such as the Waffentrager and the Sov. super artillery), but most are just ridiculous. I'm all for alternate WW2 tech, but this doesn't even fit in that category. So many awesome obscure german and allied designs, yet you pick weird vehicles from beyond the game's settings.

Can you at least put the most impractical and irrealistic designs as an option please? Also I'd like to know how this content integrate with the vehicle designers, if it does at all.

i literally gasped when i saw the SMK, it's my favourite tank of all time and so underrated
-20% reliability be damned, i can and will stick an extra turret on my tank and call it the SMK! this time, it will have a proper model too

fun SMK facts: it can hold upto 13 crew but can be operated with as little as 5 (2 gunners, driver, commander and radio operator) as well as holding just over 300 shells if (for some ungodly reason) filled to capacity

the tank commander (situated in the back turret) was also tasked with operating the back machine gun, hence the strange shape of the back turret

in true soviet fashion, the very heavy tank was tested in the marshes of Finland when it was very humid and it got stuck in the mud and abandoned, when it was eventually recovered it was melted down for scrap as the germans invaded

hope you enjoyed these facts that i know due to autism and being in love with the SMK

The respondents so far appear to have a preference for more-or-less adhering to history.

I can see their points:

In a history-themed game, one expects , well, a good dose of history.

The HoI4 customers that like the "Let's Play Make Believe" haven't yet made their voices heard...as this thread matures, we might hear comments from customers such as, "These images are really cool. I'll buy them for myself and buy extra for my HoI4 gaming friends".

Edit: As I was typing the above statement, Scyobi_Empire chimed in to embrace the Soviet SMK Heavy Tank with enthusiasm.

Could you please make up your mind on whether this is a remotely serious game or not?

And whilst you're at it, decide what timeframe it's actually set in, several of these vehicles are from the late 50s, while half the tech tree only goes to 1943.

Finally, please add a way to refund this part of the season pass. This isn't what i want and i'd rather have my money back.
It's weird seeing so much post ww2 stuff around now when arguably most games end around 1944 or 1945. Remember the Afghanistan tree has a national focus icon with AK-47 for some reason for example.

These won't replace any of your existing or default models. They are selectable only by opting-in to changing a model design on a piece of equipment through the equipment designer (including the non-NSB version if you only have that).

Aside from the last image, which is very new and outsorced content, all of these are EASTER EGGS. They are not part of the normal gameplay, don't have the same amount of content as actual paths, and the average player never even sees them since they only appear under specific conditions that you tipically have to go out of your way to get. Completely unfair comparison.

This is the reason people started hating meme national focuses and other weirdo stuff. This worthless trash were discarded for a reason.
Stop making this DLCslop and get back to fixing EXISTING GAME PROBLEMS WITH MAJORS

Are these only 3D models? Will they come with accompanying 2D models or will they be mismatched with the existing ones.

It would be nice if this DLC came with new experimental and wacky tank/plane modules that we can add to our designs.

3D models are cool but they're probably the least seen type of art in game. 3D unit models are one of those things that look cool but you can't actually admire during the game as there's more important things to do than be fully zoomed in on pause and staring at your unit. Frontline for 90% of countries are too big to risk being zoomed in enough to see them while the game is moving.

and thhis is a post about a unit pack that the AI has never used before, the AI doesn't even make heavy tanks anymore
there's more issues that this game has then 3D models for the player to use and a 3D modeler (unless they're also a programmer, some may be) can't really help squash engine bugs or complex script bugs

I personally was fine with fun secret rare paths and functions AI never uses but the surface level absurdity and how increasingly common it is to see it, is what gets me.

Especially compounded with the current context of people clearly being unhappy, and this being the last thing they want to see.

Are any of them new special projects? There are so, so few land projects ingame at the moment, I feel like a bunch of these (articulated tank, heavy amphibious, round tank) would make amazing new projects

Would it kill you guys to put this much effort into improving the actual gameplay?

Don't get me wrong, some of this stuff looks cool, but I think instead of completely separate tanks and planes, they should be designs instead.

Imagine using the By Blood Alone designer to create the most powerful fighter plane possible, and it looks like the Flying Flapjack. That would be HILARIOUS.
Well. let me just tell that content designers and programmers are not actually working at 3D models, you know?

Would've been a lot nicer for this pack to just expand the realistic selection. Even if its optionally selectable, it would be nice to be able to not see the wholly unrealistic ones every design. There's gotta be a line of grounded-ness somewhere. Would probably be nicer as a special research - being as that needs content (as well as a balance/realism pass) and takes a few more intentional steps to divert from historical design.

Seems like every decision after the initial Germany DLC release is the wrong one.

Well. let me just tell that content designers and programmers are not actually working at 3D models, you know?

Then why not focus them on making realistic models, instead of this or for more content for that last/next DLC?
