Something is wrong. I've been converting every ten years or so to test the save for EU3. Now, in 1369, it doesn't work. At first I thought it was EU messing with me, but the vanilla version and other mods seem to run without problem.

I'm running DVIP and I'm converting on top of a mod. I have been adding countries to this mod in order to make a better conversion. I should say that this has been done in several steps and earlier conversions with extra countries have worked just fine.

EDIT: Oh, poop. The conversion without mod works just fine. The error must be in my own mod. *sigh* Lots and lots of text to check, then.

I'm using Velds Before the Conquest mod and I'm having a really good game that I'd like too convert. Is this possible and if not, is there anything I can do myself to change it, like editing text and such? Thanks :D.

I'm happily churning through Europe with my converted CK-save when I notice something weird - all the countries retain the diplomatic status they had at the start of the game. In other words, if Lorraine starts out being a vassal to Brandenburg in EU III they'll always be vassals to Brandenburg, even if they disappear from the map and reappear a few years later. I tried deleting the ckalliances-file, but that didn't seem to correct things. Any ideas as to work-arounds?

In that case, that's hardly anything to do with my converter that I know of.
Having deleted the ckalliance file makes for a game which ignores all ck diplomatic relationships... Still, there is a war file somewhere too. You should also delete it to be sure.

You should inquire around about what could cause such a behavior in a game.

Yes ; you can manually edit the cvdata file so that it adapts to your mod. The most likely things you may have to change are:
- the culture conversion table if your mod addas new cultures
- the province conversion table if your mod changes the county setting
- the tag conversion table in case your mod adds new tags

Yes... I know what you mean...
Have a nice game, though...

i am getting an OutOfMemoryError, amongst others.

Just wondering what, if any, of the following combination would cause complications:

- java version "1.6.0_11" (JRE 6 Update 11)
- converter v1.59
- CK v1.05 with playable muslim/pagan mod
- In Nomine v3.2b (November beta)
- save game as the Kingdom of Rus

Double-clicking on the CKmod executable file allows me to select a game and then the window to select options for the conversion. Though once i click done... nothing gets done. Other than an empty CK folder created in EU3/mod?

(Assuming the bug is tracked down, what do the Unformed Countries settings mean? If Germany and Russia exist in CK and i want them to exist in the EU3 mod, then what option should be selected?)

Anyway, back to the difficulty...

in the command prompt at MyDocs\CKtoEU3, entering this:

Code:
java -Xms500m -Xmx500m -jar CKmod.jar "C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings" "C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis III" "Kingdom of Rus_1399_January_1.eug"

begets this:
Code:
Crusader Kings to Europa Universalis III converter v 1.59

Converting for In Nomine
Added: pomerian to: germanic
###<snip list of cultures>###
Added:	ashanti to african

It's probably something simple that i'm messing up. Therefore, odds are i won't be able to figure out what it is.

If it's complicated, there's no doubt i'll never figure it out.
:D

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Change the Xms and Xmx values in the command, using higher numbers. For example:
-Xms600m and -Xmx600m

The normal setting is that these countries do not exist as such at the beginning of EU3. If you remove the check, they will exist, provided that they exist in your CK save. The default way lets you form the crown (if you wish) inside EU3 with additionnal benefits.

Triple thanks! Spasibo!!!!

It worked with the numerical tweak.

Of course, i will probably have to tweak some of the names of the countries if i can, just to make sure there aren't extra Scotlands outside of the warring clans of that former kingdom... but yes, my natural rivals are Aldwulf Sverkerätten (Scandinavia, Iceland and Stettin), Raoul of Morava (Germany, Burgundy, Bohemia and umpteen assorted chunks) and Akim of the Seljuk Arabs.

Will Sudan stick with Catholicism or take up Protestantism? Will Iberia's kaleidoscopic factions ever unite? How long can Wales hold on to new-found empire? Tsar Ivan (9/8/7) probably won't live to find out, as he's due for retirement soon. Shame the Piast dynasty of Poland-Lithuania got over-run just a decade before. Sic transit gloria mundi.
:D

Thanks again for very, very neat contraption you've made. Oh and the helpful response.
w00t.

thanks for making the converter first of all.

It doesn't work correctly with mods that change the number of provinces, such as Magna Mundi platinum with the addition of shogunate japan, or the Whole World mod

how do i find how many provinces exist in a mod and then change the numbersin the CK converter so that it will work?

error message from log

First, which version were you using ?

Second, and more important : the problem doesn't lie with the number of provinces, but more likely with the cvdata file that you are using. Mods that change provinces have to have their own cvdata file. Did you use the standard one ?

BTW, the error you have just means that anEU3 province file named 1773-something.txt was not found.
This is odd because in the standard install section of the game, there should be a 1773-achea.txt file.

See with Jordarkelf.
There is a link in the bottom on my download page.
I don't know whether his files are up to date.

Help please?

Could somebody please be kind enough to help with this conversion? I'm going from CK to EU3 (vanilla both versions)

This is the error from the log file I keep encountering:
KHO country was not found for EU3

java.lang.NullPointerException
at java.io.File.<init>(Unknown Source)
at eu3.EU3FileChanger.<init>(EU3FileChanger.java:126)
at eu3.EU3Country.<init>(EU3Country.java:255)

at cv.CvCountry.loadEU3data(CvCountry.java:562)
at CK2EU3.main(CK2EU3.java:89)

FATAL ERROR

I suspect that I might have to start messing around with the cvdata.txt file, but I'd like a pointer or two before I break everything completely.

Many thanks!

Well...
I suspect then that Khorasan did not belong to the vanilla EU3 (can anyone confirm ?)
The fix is easy : go to the section tags => EU3 => unavailable
and add KHO there.

Yves

I confirm. NA added Khorasan.

NA added: HAT, PRG, CAM, VNZ, DNZ, KRA, LIV, RFR, SPI, FRN, WES, ETR, NAP, IRQ, SYR, KHO, SOK, QIN, WUU, XIA.
IN added: SCA, ACH, BYZ, MEI, GAL, AQU, PLT, AYD, JAI, MAJ, SUK.

Hell...
One more version to get out...

Thanks!
