Not sure if this is a bug or I'm just misunderstanding the mechanics, but I had a colony in a system that I'd upgraded (full mining stations, etc.) get the ancient terraforming event. I tried to activate the terraforming devices and it turned the planet Toxic, wiping out my colony and putting the system outside of my borders.
It was a pretty hilarious mistake and I was ready to continue and go back to put an Outpost in the system so I could get my stations working again (it has some strategic resources and good resources otherwise). However, now all my old stations are marked as "ancient stations" that say they need a special project to interact with. I can't seem to do anything to them with my science vessels, however (clicking investigate merely opens my log to show no special projects), and can't order my fleet to destroy the station around the star to make room for my outpost, either.
I'm going to try to put an outpost in a neighboring system and see if restoring my borders gives me access again.
(Tried to upload the save but getting an error message about .sav not being an allowed file extension)
