1.03B crash at startup of CK2game.exe (STEAM)

I've played 1.02b (STEAM) for the last few days without problem. Now every time I try to launch it from Steam first it tries to install VCRedist and then the exe crashes. The best part comes after that. The said exe crashes even without Steam, the main game exe (not the menu) disappeared, and the vcredist.exe that appeared in the game folder says it can't be installed because I have a newer version installed already. Just great, given the fact I've bought steam version to avoid the chore of manual patch installation, and arranged a free weekend to play the game. I'm running Win7x64.

Every time there are patches for Paradox games Steam screws up, this with any game. But then before a release you Steam users go about to tell us how mighty powerful great is Steam. I just wish you would remember better all the headaches it gave you.
Manual patches on the other hand are installed by downloading and double clicking them, compare it to Steam and draw your conclusions...

OP, did you get the patch via a direct Steam download and autoinstall, or did you manually install the GG version?

I launched it through steam, and haven't installed anything manually, so I guess it's autoinstalled, because as the game crashes, I don't even know if anything got installed at all. Oh and, steam integrity checks A-OK (of course).

On a side note - for Steam = bloatware reasons, it's my FIRST STEAM GAME /a series of gloating unhelpful responses for the first post ommited/.

The Steam update causes a bad checksum, so you should uninstall the game in the Steam client, then install it afresh.

I'd love to do what you're saying (I've came up with that yesterday), If the steam would let me. But apparently since yesterday "servers of steam are too busy".
