I keep getting the "Crusader Kings is not installed" error. I have looked at my registry just to make sure, as suggested by lots of posts here suggest, but it's seems fine (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings)

The Path point to the right folder, and I've got the English patch for the English game. Is there anything more to be done?

TIA

Uninstall the game completely.

Those are Instructions for VIc but just replace CK for Vic everywhere and you should be fine.
delete the 1.03B patch from your drive, empty your temp internet files.
download a new copy of the Patch from the Sticky thread at the top of this forum.
reinstall from cd, then just apply the 1.03B patch.

Great, glad to have been of service. :)

I have the same problem. I installed game on my computer at work :D, it runs without any problem... But then I wanted to install also 1.03b patch, and I am still getting "Crusader Kings is not installed" error. I followed your instructions, but it doesn't work. I don't know what I am doing wrongly... I uninstalled game, checked the registry (btw, there was no Paradox folder), went to Install field directory, and deleted Crusaders files, installed game again and downloaded patch again. Then again the same error. Could you help me?

Who is the publisher of your version? Their logo will be on the CD.

Could be the problem that I don't have the full adminstration rights at my computer at work? But as I said before the game runs also on this computer, I only cannot intstall the patch...

Yes that would be the exact problem!

I am supprised you could even install it without Admin rights.

How is it possible? I mean that I can play the original game without the administration rights, but I can't install the patch? It is really funny... :D Well, during the little free time I have at work, I can play also with 1.00, but I am really curious for possible explanation...

As I say I was always told that you need Admin rights to install 1.00 as well.
What operating system are you using?

The fact that there is no registry entry tells the tail.

Yeah, the registry is not there... I am using Windows 2000... I have not been able to install anything on my own until now, CK is an interesting exception... I knew about the fact that I shouldn't be able to install CK, but just for fun I tried it, and it run. So, then I was surprised again that patch doesn't work...

Well I know the Admin rights are needed for XP, Win 200, looks like you can install but not patch.

Hi, I can't seem to patch my copy either. I've tried everything .. all the advise posted on both this thread and the corresponding Victoria one.

This is getting me down, I'm a serious addict and not having the latest features is really depressing. :(

Why oh why do Paradox use the c** InstallShield method of bundling patches? It would be a world of pain removed if they either switched to a simple .zip or .rar format with a README or at the very least ... released two versions? One for the click n' run crowd and one for everyone else who may not have installed on the default path, may not have administrator rights, may have a weird and wonderful configuration etc.

Can anyone help me out here? I'm pretty clued up on how the registry functions and relevant paths etc. I feel a little aggreived that I paid for something and can't actually get the best use from it. :(

Is it even possible for some kind soul to post the un-InstallShield .cab compressed patch contents so I can do it manually?

Sure would appreciate that ..

It's a way to make illegal copies harder to patch.
