I have been complaining constantly about this patch. I was upset because the Allies always attacked in 38 and Austria never joined the Axis etc.

Well, I must have just had bad luck. I have played three games in a row where everything has worked just fine and the AI has really put up a fight. I have not played past France yet since I wanted to be sure the game was functioning well first. Now that it is I shall proceed past 1940.

The game I am presently in the French are really making me work. They haven't just rolled over and died but made me be more careful with my forces. Poland was the same really tough fighting.

I did not continue the treaty with the Soviets so I hope they dont attack me while I am tied up in France. Would be my fault but this was the first time France put up a fight so I wasnt prepared. I wonder how many commanders have felt that way throughout history.

I also tried a little tweaking of my indutrial learning. I have only spend IC's on Infantry, Armour, Artillery, and a little on Bombers and Fighters. I have built fighters, bombers and Armour.

The poor Italians have already lost Africa. I sent my air to help them but I was too late. Would have sent armour to Libya but I have no idea how to get it there now that Gibralta is blocked. I suspect there is someway to ship them by Italian transport but haven't figured it out yet. If someone knows how please let me know.

Finished France wow was that a tough fight. The British landed about 20 divisions to support the French and they didnt leave until just prior to Frances surrender.

After the battle in France I thought I could take a breather and get ready for the Soviets. Again this new AI surprised me. I lightly garrisons my beaches and suddenly corps and armies landed. They landed with enough force to be really dangerous and supported there landing with plenty of airpower.

It is September 1940 and I still haven't secured the western front to my satisfaction. I looked at the Enlish side of the channel and decided there was no way I would cross that stream without some serious planning. They had dug-in and fortified units in all there provinces I was able to see.

This new AI with 3B seems to be really robust. I was having alot of trouble with it when I first downloaded it since my games were not historical. That appears to just have been bad luck because they are correct now.

I am now trying to prepare for the Soviets. I am really not ready but I doubt they are going to give in too easily. I suspect this will be a battle to remember.

The Italians took back most of Libya after the battle in France so that wasnt lost as I thought it was. I havent attacked the Greeks yet. The Yugo's joined me but I am a little worried about those Greeks. I doubt I will have time to mess with them. If I am lucky maybe they will just sit out the war.

Please explain to me what you think an after action report is?

I am a former instructor at the Army War College and was an instructor of Military Science at a University. I also spent 15 years in the military. During that period I wrote and judged many AAR's written by both senior officers and cadets.

This is not written in military style but meets the basic standards. It explains what happen, why it happen and what lessons I learned from these. It presents problems anticipated from my actions.

Second, you say this should go to the General Discussion Board. Where is that? I do not see any on the list. There is the AAR Board which looked to me to be pretty general in nature. There is the FAQ Board, Mod Board, Bug Board, Techical assistance, and multiplayer.

I have read a number of articles that are similiar to mine on the board.

What part of my format do you find incorrect?

Thanks

Your thread is a general discussion of a particular game you played, with comments on the patch and generalizations about the strategies you've employed. Even the title suggests it's not an AAR.

This forum is reserved for those who wish to write fictional accounts of their gaming experiences. You may notice the difference if you read a few of them.

You will find HOI General Discussions and Questions here.
