Says the file C:\NULL\UNWISE.EXE could not be opened. Please check that your disk is not full and that you have access to the destination directory. The system cannot find the path specified. Please help.

First download 1.06, why on earth are you playing 1.04. To answer your question, you probably don't have enough admin rights on your comp (I don't know for sure though, were you able to install HOI on your account or did you install it on your parents account?). Either your parents did this on purpose or they didn't know it wouldn't allow you to install games when they didn't give you admin rights. If they didn't know, then ask if you can log onto their account and then you should be able to install the patch. But if your parents are like mine and think games are the anti-christ, install HOI and 1.06 on some other computer, then save it onto a disk, insert the disk into your comp, copy and paste the files onto a folder, and voila you can play HOI!
