As the title says, since 1.9 was released, my game has slowed down A LOT - it's still the 1840s, and it takes a while for 1 week to pass on speed 5. I didn't use to have this issue before the update.

I didn't have this issue since the game's release.

I've disabled full screen optimisations, and limited screen refresh to 60, but this hasn't helped much.

Please let me know what other information I can provide!

Thank you in advance :)

Is this just in that one campaign you mention? Others, and a new test one you start now, are okay? Or all are affected?

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

I had already tried those two first suggestion of yours, and still had the same problem. They did help marginally however. The game usually starts off okay speed wise, but then after maybe 20 minutes (usually less), the game significantly slows down on 5 speed - and I haven't even cracked the 1850s yet!

Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide in terms of information!

Thank you so much for your help! :)

I'm running the game on a MacBookPro bootcamp windows - but I don't have any issues with CK3 or Vic3 previous to v. 1.9.

Why are you doing that, instead of running the native MacOS version you have access to?

I do see the AMD Radeon Pro 5300M driver you are using is from 2022 - surely there's a newer one than that for this setup?

Re: AMD Radeon driver I'm using, I haven't been able to find an update for it. And when I try to manually update it within the AMD UI, it says it is up-to-date.

I think this is the latest one?: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/Apple-Boot-Camp.html

That does look like the latest driver, yes - but are you saying it does not install? You might need help from AMD if so.

But again - why run the game under Bootcamp instead of natively in MacOS?

For historic reasons - but do you think it would necessarily run better on MacOS?

My concern though is that before 1.9 the game ran well, so I'm confused why it has stopped working.

I am too, but yours is a unique setup IME.

Can you contact AMD and see about getting that driver updated?

Can you at least test it on Mac?

So, by way of an update, I contacted AMD, and they could neither confirm nor deny that an update is in the works.

Ultimately I just don't see why update 1.9 should have slowed down the game to this degree, there was no update to the graphics as far as I know.

Would you happen to know if any optimisations are being planned for version 1.9?

Thank you again for all your assistance!

I don't, I am sorry, I am an external support contractor and not in touch with the dev teams at all.

re contacting AMD, I meant to find out why your driver is 2022, there is a newer driver available that you found, but it won't install - they had no explanation or help for that?
