Assuming I set up all the characters and countries for a 1000 AD starting date, will the game accept a scenario with that start date, or is 1066 hardcoded to be the earliest possible no matter what?

On a similar note, is there a hardcoded limit which would prevent the game being extended past 1453?

As an example, I gather demesne limits increase by one per century. Would going past 1500 (or some later century) result in a crash?

Well to change to the start date to something earlier may involve a lot of work. Look here from the title file

Code:
title = {
	tag = UPLO
	tier = duchy
	liege = GERM
	holder = {
		character = { type = 10 id = 6642 }
		startdate = {
			year = 1066
			month = january
			day = 0
		}
	}
}
and the country file
Code:
country = {
	tag = UPLO
	form_of_goverment = feudal
	capital = 127

	ruler = {
		startdate = { year = 1066 month = january day = 1 }
		character = { type = 10 id = 6642 }
	}

	controlledprovinces = {
		127
		133
	}
laws = {
salic_primogeniture_law = yes
traditional_custom_law = yes
church_supremacy = yes
}}

Both files have start dates coded into the country and the title. I am guessing that if you want an earlier starting date, you will need to change these for all the titles and countries in the game.

I believe you shall have to wait for an unlimited patch

I would imagine that 1000 is possible, but any earlier than that might cause problems... I also don't see why later than 1453 would be a problem; earlier games have UT-mods running until 2500 or so...

Unlimited time patch!

Hoping for that! From what I hear Two Thrones didn't do the War of the Roses (or the HYW for that matter) much justice and is one of the Paradox 'bombs' at least from the reviews I've read. I'm hoping to see a War of the Roses type game given the all out 'Paradox treatment' ever since Kingmaker :)

Cheers,
Richmond

It really isn't that much work. I don't have the game yet, but it would take about 5 minutes to make a perl script which could do that for you.

Real men do it by hand.

:rofl: I´m no native english speaker, but these things I always understand. BtW I agree with what you say, I always did it by hand...

I tested using the python script that was used to create the I.C.O.C.K. scenario. I tried creating a scenario with the start year of 1050. The scenario loaded correctly and showed the right year, but once I unpaused the year changed to 1066.

Every EU engine based game so far has had hard coded time limits, really didnt expect this to be any different. And every one so far has had a hack released to get rid of it ...which makes me wonder why they are still doing it huh :D

The only reason i might think bying the game is starting date=1000 for Byzantium and the Emperor(Bassilios II).Anything less dont even deserve my attention(for now :D :rofl: :rolleyes: :cool: :p )

My thoughts exactly. 1000 AD is interesting for many and varied reasons, and Basil II is one of them. Plus, at this stage he is still of a good age to marry and produce kids, so who knows... the Macedonian dynasty might have gone on. ;)
