If you can keep 12 players at all times then it could potentially be continued early Saturday morning. Get 20 years done tonight and then another 30 tomorrow, we can start to see the impact of what may be.

I'm out till about 11.30 tonight but will be around early tomorrow.

Although do you intend to run with the 1419 version or wait for the 1492 version from PE?

ofcourse the nation setup would be quite different :)

I think good nations for a 12 player GC would be,

Burgundy
Venice
England
Austria
Castile
Aragon
Portugal
France
Denmark
OE
Poland
Sweden/brandenburg/Genova

Muscowy, Persia, etc could maybe enter later on if someone gets eliminated, and dutch also.

You are putting too many odds against France, Red.
I understand Burgundy was a very important country, but combined with England, well, au revoir France! :)

Not so sure on Portugal. (too many options for it to be ahistorical)

what about the

Mameluks
Caliphrate of Iraq.
Hungary

there is no Ottoman opposition in the list.

I don't like a human Burgundy either, only because I'd love to see a somewhat historical Austrian inheritance of Burgundy. Also if England or France gets too greedy then Europe may unite and restore balance to France between England, France, Burgundy and the vassal states.

:D

You are too optimist John. We barely see Europe united against the hegemonic power when 6-7 players, just imagine with 12.

Arghhhhh, the diplomatic possibilities, i cannot stand it anymore! :D

Yeah, imagine the diplomacy... we could have like 3 or 4 big alliances, instead of the usual 2 + the neutrals...;)

the game isnt about everoyne starting equal anyway, historical france was about to get bitchslapped too, they just got lucky.

I like to think EU2 was designed to allow for historical conditions to occur, not for historical outcomes necessarily.

Burgundy inhertiance has 3 options anyway, and he chooses not to take it, he gets some RR for a few years, making him a good target for others.

I like to think that players can create history in this game, not for the game to force it on them. Ofcourse balance needs to be there to begin with, but if one player will take over the world, so be it, but I doubt that will be an easy task with 11 others fighting to stop him :)

Besides if any country is eliminated, they can allways switch to another, we can bring in whatever countries.

Also I don't see why france has to be the #1 powerhouse in europe, things evolve the way they do.

Also I don't think burgundy is a deathsentance to france, france just will need a lot more diplomacy to get out of it. Either by making a good deal with burgundy, england or both. Or trying to buy him self allies from elsewhere, austria and iberian peninsula come to mind.

About OE being too strong, I think venice will be a nice oppostion to them, and we can bring in persia when they emerge, or consider a mameluck player at the start.

Sure, Venice is very powerful in 1419. Good technology, advanced economy, some pretty good leaders. A Mameluke Sultan should be careful not only of the Turks......

I dont know alot about Burgandy but we need someone who does, they must have had more opposition than just France no?

If the Ottomans dont have enough opposition, expect the Ottoman empire of 1556 in 1456. My East Med tests clearly demonstrated that it needs boxing in.
