Assassination

Ok, everyone either gets, suceeded, suceeded but was discovered, failed and was discovered; and failed but was not discovered. Obviously if you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar, you deserve the prestige loss and good for everyone else. But if you are not cought because you suceeded or just failed but were not discovered, why are you still taking the -0.4% from your nobles. If you were not discovered, then you shouldn't get hit with the penalty for the loyalty of your nobles, for having a bad reputation. Again, NOT DISCOVERED, should mean, no side effects.

can others confirm this is the way it works atm?

I think I have seen this complaint in another thread...

I have not heard a response. Is the assassination thingie a bug. I mean if I succeed in an assassination and I am not discovered, then I shouldn't get the -0.4% reputation hit. Anyone have any ideas on this?

reputation hit from succesfull assasination

in my last game I dropped in relation from having a succesfull assasination, there was no "we are discovered text",

WAD - though some folks complain about it.

It does seem silly that the family rep would suffer from a "sucessful", as sucessful seems to imply that no one but the assassin and the employer would know about it. Maybe the assassin goes to another country and brags about his success at tavern? :)

:eek:o

This may explain some of the mystery BB hit I got at the end of my long-term dynastic experiment game...

[trying to link the many Duchies that shared my dynasty number, I started assinating right and left to *arrange* a grand unification... I had a high intrigue ruler and a superb Spy Master ;)]

There was a big long thread about this already.

If it's WAD, it needs to be obvious in-game that this happens to you. The player is totally unaware of this effect unless he or she reads these forums.

Personally, I'd prefer having no penalty for a successful one, but the argument to keep it makes sense to me. I just don't like that I had to show up here and have that argument to realize it was happening.

It may be WAD, but, if so, it is a bloody silly D.

What is not discovered should not affect your reputation.

Whether your wife or inconvenient rival died of natural causes or "natural causes", if it is not known whether it is the latter or the former, the cases should be treated identically. Either both should carry a BB hit or neither.

If your reputation does not suffer when somebody you would potentially like to off falls down the stairs by accident, it does not make sense that it should when he falls down the stairs by "accident". In both cases, the rest of the world's knowledge of the events transpired is the same.

I logged it - now lets see what happens.:)
