Germany. 1911. Industrial powerhouse. All techs researched since like 1906? Can't build dreadnaughts. Highest prestige in the game (I have around 3000). Can't build tank factories or airplane factories. What gives?

Well the death dates (point at which you should expect to have a good chance of finding inventions) are 1910 for tanks / dreadnoughts and 1903 for planes. So not having dreadnoughts and tanks in 1910 is not that unusual. Not having planes is a bit more odd.

Let me know if nothing fires by end of game.

I don't think it makes much sense that the most powerful nation in the world should have this random small chance of not having ALL THREE of these modern-day objects. Being without one of these, OK, maybe possible, but all three, when I have the techs, and I'm the most powerful, industrialized, highest exports, level infinite railroads in every single of my provinces? I think this needs to be redesigned; maybe the trigger should be much more likely to occur if you're highly industrialized. I appreciate your comments though, I will run it through 1920 and let you know.

The chance increases dramatically past the death date - thats why I was surprised by the plane issue.

Did this sort itself out?

in my experience Dreadnoughts are extremely difficult to build, why?

for instance, you'll need to get the tech. Only Britain seems to manage alright in the grandcampaign,

now comes the trick = get telephones!

To build telephones, you'll need electric components,

so you'll see the building of dreadnaughts is linked with other discoveries and huge investments,

If you have the tech and the prestige, you'll should get the invention. But I had a very difficult to ever build dreadnaugths in the grand campaign,

in reality. Britain and USA constructed many dreadnaugths and sold them on the market. Some ordres were withdrawn and the Britisch navy needed them in WWI,

Could you switch to a minor and let the game finish in a handsoff game to find out.

same issue here

Game nearly over, it is 1920 and I (Nederland) cannot build Dreadnoughts. My prestige is around 1300, and I finished all research about 15 years back.

Does this seem unusual?

Thanks in advance,

SA
