1919 - Russia/The Ukraine

All right...here's the basic situation in very general terms.

RUSSIA:
Red Army
White Army
Allied Intervention

Easy stuff. Separate nations/regular wars.

UKRAINE:
Red Army
White Army
Ukrainian People's Republic
West Ukraine National Republic
Hetmanate/Austria-Hungary/Germany
Makhnovshchina
Green Army

Yikes. I'd suggest representing this as:
- The Ukraine, which is at war with the Whites, Reds, Makhnovists, Austria-Hungary, and Germany
- The Makhnovists, at war with AH/Germany/Whites/Ukraine and later the Reds (as in the event chain already in the mod)
- The Green Army represented by frequent events for large rebellions
- West Ukraine...not sure what to do with this.

We also need to think about the Polish-Soviet War.

I'm also thinking that having the Makhnovists as anarcho-liberal might not be the best idea...perhaps Communist with very liberal policies?

obviously the first world war is over by 1919, so austria-hungary and germany wont be at war with Makhno etc....as for the makhno being commie with liberal policies, fine by me.

Alas, you're right...the Central Powers and the Ukraine signed a peace treaty on 9 Feb 1918. I was thinking of the earlier portion of the Civil War...oops. :rofl:

All right, since we're starting in 1919, take out the Hetmanate/Germany/A-H.

"On January 22, 1919, the Directorate was officially united with the West Ukrainian People's Republic, although the latter entity de facto maintained its own army and government. In February 1919, the Bolsheviks captured Kiev." [1]

This should probably mean satellite status & military alliance in Vicky terms.

Does anyone know much about the Polish involvement? I know they fought the Polish-Soviet war, and that the Poles supported the Directorate (Ukrainian government from 1918 until absorption into the USSR). I guess this should be a military alliance with the Ukraine/war with the Soviets at some point...is this pre-1919, or should it be an event?

the western ukriane republic was at war with Poland, and was eventualy conquered by the Poles. I'm not sure if the Directorate was at war with Pland, but i know Poles on their border meant they had to keep troops there to watch them.

Maybe defensive alliance and satellite status for w.ukr and Ukr. But w.Ukr shouldnt be at war with the Reds, only poland, wereas the Directory should LOL..be at war with most people.
