UPDATE: Latest Beta live, read more here

The latest patch for the game introduced some issues on computers with less than 4GB memory. This essentially makes it difficult to run the game on the latest patch on 32-bit systems. You can still play the game by reverting to the 2.0.4 version. On Steam, you simply opt-in to the beta:

1. Right-click the game in Steam
2. Go to "Properties"
3. Go to the "BETAS" tab
4. Opt-in to "2.0.4 - Old version 2.0.4"

We are aware of the issue and working on it.

Yeah, my saves all say Pre 2.1 in red. I'll try reverting to the beta.

Won't let me play. Keeps trying to update, even after I disabled auto-updates. Any advice?

You need to check again for beta . Everytime you log into steam >.<
or put in general steam setting beta allowed .

Well both are a bit of a hassle , yeah steam forces tyrannicaly lately everybody to update , they are holding onto the EULA leasing games , instead of owning games .

One of the reason I dispise steam , but sadly they have some exclusive games I want .
But sometimes getting close on my nerves that I think it is beter to just eh get stuff "free" .
then again can afford stuff :p so will let the next gen , get stuff "free" .

For convenience, a Pic on How-To-Beta, posted by Meneth earlier:

Thanks for the visual guide, Aardvark :)

My pleasure.
Though, as far as i understand, most people with memory problems didn't even get the game to load with DLCs.

Maybe you should mention that it helps loading CK2 first without DLCs and then with some and a third time with all.
At least that should work as i understand, as files will be in memory already the second time and so on.
Am i right ? Not sure there. Well the hotfix might come soon anyway and cease the problem in the first place. ;)

Hi, is there a fix for this 32-bit problem in the next patch (2.1.2.1)?

There is some memory optimizations but not enough so I will work more on it.

Hope you will fix it soon, dont wanna be rude but we kinda paid money for the DLC and its a bummer we cant play it.

I know it sucks, but are you not able to play for now by turning of graphical and musical DLC's that are for the western world?

What, so loading any one DLC is enough to stop the game working for you?

Let me correct my above post, upon buying ROI I also bought Finno-Ugric Unit Pack and Saxon Pack. Starting the game with and without these certain DLCs I found ROI works okay, it is Finno-Ugric that makes it crash. Anyone get the same?

Apparently, the new 2.1.2.1 beta batch seems to fix the issue, as the game doesn't crash on launch anymore.
But every save I make get broken as soon as I try to load them.

So the problem is not completely solved for me...

I'm not sure this is exactly true. I had the same problem with a Russian Unit Pack and the Warriors of faith pack. Truth is, I believe it doesn't matter what pack you're using at the moment, it's regulated to some kind of memory problem. You may need to apply the bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072 fix. It works and the game runs totally optimized with ALL DLCs and updated versions (beta or other) of the game.
