Since downloading and installing the 2.8.0 and Jade Dragon, I have noticed these two provinces have been missing their proper names and just showing as PROV1464 & PROV1465. Since then I have tried verifying my game files through steam and completely clearing all local files and reinstalling the game multiple times. I have even tried switching back and forth between the English and Polish versions on steam and in the in-game options as I saw that some similar issues reported on these forums were related to that, however the issue still persists.

Mind you this is not specific to any save game, it's there even if i make a new save even after reinstalling.
I am running 2.8.0 with all DLC/Expansions.

Also no mods.

Yo,

Please note that the Polish language isn't officially supported anymore, and it *will* cause some issues when activated. Please try doing the following :

  • Switch off Polish language (and use the default English one)
  • Deactivate all mods
  • Revert back to the 2.7.2 version (Properties -> Betas -> 2.7.2 branch)
  • Verify Files
  • Reboot Steam
  • Go back to the current 2.8 version (use branch NONE)
  • Verify Files
  • Start the game still with no mods activated
  • => If it works, you can start reactivated mods bit by bit if you want to

Thanks for the reply,
I actually don't use the Polish version, the issue occurred when using the English version, I had simply tried switching to the Polish version than back to English to see if it would resolve the issue (It didn't). Also I do not use any mods, sorry if all that wasn't clearly communicated.

Either way I've now did as you said and tried reverting to version 2.7.2 and then back to 2.8, and that seems to have partially resolved the issue. When I open CK2 now and start a new game the provinces now have the appropriate names. However if I load any save file made before doing this the issue is still there. Furthermore if I then exit to menu and try starting another new game AFTER loading one of the old ones the province names continue to be missing. Upon restarting Crusader Kings 2 after this and either loading one of the newer saves or starting a completely new game the province names display correctly again.

Ah yeah, it's a mindgame...

Basically, in your old saves, the provinces names have been saved as "PROVwhatever", so that's why they're going to be displayed like that when loading. If you then resign back to main menu without quitting the game, it will keep this setting (I'm grossly simplifying here) and that's why it'll keep naming the provinces weird ways until you restart the game.

Ah okay that makes sense, unfortunately I'm in Ironman in my current game otherwise I would just edit the save file to fix it. Looks like I'm gonna have to just conquer my way to the other side of Tibet in order to rename those provinces haha.
Thanks for your help.
