'Create title' in vassal land apparently lost at reload (plus Saxon gender-benders)

In my current all-1.02 game as Scotland, it appears I can only create dukedoms out of vassal land until I first quit the game. When I reload, it's back to the 1.01 situation and you have to physically control a province in the area for the option to become available...

Well, I might have a related problem.

As one of the Iberian brothers, and King of Castille, Navarra and Leon, I could see taht I could create three titles, and see King of Protugal. When I created one title, the "Create Title" button became inactive. When I had ctd:d and reoaded a while later, I could create another title - and then the button became inactive. I assumed there was some kind of limit as to how fast you could create units, but maybe not...

Right you are, that's how it was for me too - I had gained the ability to create another title, then I could create until it was only Duke of Corimbia and King of Portugal left, at which point I could not enter the menu.

Happened to me too.

It seems the game checks if you personally control any lands with uncreated titles for the purpose of greying out the menu option, but then allows you to create titles on the lands of your vassals once you enter the create title screen.

Also as king you can create duke titles on the lands of the vassals of your vassals. You can also grant the duke title to a different vassal from the one whose vassal counts control the lands. Wierd.

I think the right thing would be to only be able to create - and hold - a duke title if you also hold one one of the corresponding count titles. You should also not be allowed to give away the last county of a duchy you hold.

I'm going to resurrect this bugthread, just to note that it didn't get cured in 1.03.

Playing King of Bolgar, Rus, Cuman, and Lithuania, I was working on getting King of Sweden. Create title showed Sweden, as well as the Prince of Tver, Prince of Cherison (I think -- it's down by the Don outlet), and a couple others. The two Prince titles I'd had 50% of since I vassalized the Prince of Kiev a century ago. Finally got enough to create Sweden, and the create title menu item is now greyed out (since it's only through my vassals that I have a partial claim to those titles.) That was in 1.02, but the problem persists in 1.03.

Today, under 1.03, I was playing as Duke of Catalonia. He should start with the ability to claim Duke of Spanish Marche (it's comprised of Jaca, Urgell and Rosello, and Urgell and Rosello are his vassals). But until I captured something in the bounds of the Kingdom of Portugal, the Create title option was greyed out. Once I actually held as demesne a province that was part of a createable title, I had no trouble opening the menu and creating Spanish Marche.
