New random courtier gaining claim

The count of Halland asked for the hand of one of my initial courtiers, a woman in her twenties. I permitted it, but it seems that he was removed as count shortly afterwards, for the couple turned up back in my own court - I got the announcement of the birth of their first child with my shield on the announcement. The (former) count, who had no family other than his wife, died before the birth of the child (which turned out to be a girl) and the random courtier of my dynasty that showed up when he died was given a claim on the county of Halland - very strange.

I am not sure we could reproduce this one.

Was it with 1.02 ?

Considering the date of my post, it had to have been 1.01. I do think that it would still happen the same way if the circumstance was duplicated - people who die without an heir get an heir generated as a country cousin of the dynasty of the court they die in. If the inheritance is a claim, they get a claim.

Are you sure it is a bug at all?

If I understand you correctly, all that has happened is that a count (with a claim to Halland) has been removed by his liege. He then pops up in the court with the closest relations (I assume), but he still has a claim.
Well, as I see it he SHOULD have a claim. He has accepted that his liege take the land, but he could still have a legal claim should an opportunity to reclaim arise.

Well, I might have misunderstood what you said - but if I have, perhaps you could tell me where I am wrong?

That part is no problem, it's his heir that surprised me. Since the former Count of Halland had no male relatives when he died, the game created an heir - but the heir was of my dynasty, not his, since he died in my court.

This sounds odd, but also like something hard to fix and pretty uncommon as well. I'd propose declaring it a Won't Fix and let Johan deal with more pressing issues. Second opinions?

This is the way it always works.....When a courtier in your court dies (who has a claim and no heirs) a country cousin is generated who inherits. It has happened to me several times.....often after conquering an infidel's land, he comes to my court...if he has no heirs, this will happen...

Perhaps the game could generate these cousins based on the surname of the dying claimant...
