Bishop of Altmark becomes and arabic muslim

Hi,

I was playing as the Duke of Brandenburg in 1066 scenario. One of my vassals is the bishop of Altmark. When the first bishop died (I guess he did, cause he was suddenly gone). His place was taken by a child with an Arabic name. And the child was an Arabic Muslim.

That doesn't seem right to me

Not to me either.
I myself conquered a baltic tribe and got one of their courtiers into my own court. He was a Lettogallian Pagan but soon he was appointed to be Bishop of some Italian Bishopric.
Pagans, muslims, and probably orthodox as well, should not be able to become Bishops, or even Lords, of Catholic controlled places.
Also, I think that Bishops should only be appointed among those educated in Clerical matters, and not among the military or court educated people.

Well, the player at least can only appoint bishops from males educated in clerical matters. I haven't looked at the AI though

Oh, and after conquering the Kingdom of North Africa, my court is filled with arabs muslims, I even have a veiled lady as my current stewardess. They sure are talented, so I won't complain :)

Yeah, this is a bug alright. Did you notice bishopries given to Pagans become regular counties?

I think the easiest way to fix this would be simply not to allow people of foreign religion to become bishops. Although in several occasions it's not all realistic for non-state religion people to be lords either, but it's not that simple. Moslims had Pagan vassals in Steppes, Pagan Mongols had Orthodox and Moslim vassals, Swedes had Pagan vassals and quite propably there were Catholic-Orthodox mixups around Lithuania at the time as well.

Also, I think that Bishops should only be appointed among those educated in Clerical matters, and not among the military or court educated people.

Isn't it like that already? Did you use 1.01?

If they are going to keep pagans/muslims as vassals, then should they not include an option where you can actually INTERACT with your non-catholic/orthodox vassals instead of just beng able to take their titles and declare war?

Indeed.

I'm quite certain they'll stick with Pagan vassals as Sweden has some :D

I amm playing in the Paltic in 1100s, Memel is seat of Teutonic order, they go to war with Pechenegs and get conquered so I deckare war on pechenegs and along comes the Archbishop of Surrey, he steals my seige and it becomes part of his territory, but he is a Pagan Preuthenian. So I declare war on him it says no loss of Prestige since he is a religious enemy but after a ong war I find my piety has collapsed for making war on the church.

I have no problem with pagan vassals, thjough I think if they marry christians in a christian realm they should be converted, but... just stop pasgans from getting bishoprics
