Female pope

I was playing as the County of Danzig when a new pope was elected. I checked out the pope and to my surprise I saw a female pope. Can females get elected or is it something wrong here?

Also, everytime a new pope gets elected, three windows pop up and all say: UNKOWN STRING WANTED. I can live with that, but it's still kind of annoying.

An untrue urban legend. Look on the list of Popes, you can find it anywhere on the web. No women there.

I saw a dead female pope in a 1.02 game I'm still playing. She died in 1062 - I'm not sure when she started to reign, but she held onto the post until I killed her from the console.

Found her - Adleta of Hungary, starts out with the DBOH tag. Died Jan. 27, 1062, assumed the papal throne Dec, 5, 1142. By 1140, the last save I have before her elevation, she had moved to the PAPA tag, though still with no office. Savefiles available on request. I am running several custom event files, though nothing that should affect the Papacy, and did some savefile editing to change my tag from GEOR to BYZA after taking my rightful place (after being cheated out of it when the Paleologoi changed the inheritance laws, having started as the Prince of Antioch) but not until after Adleta was elected Pope.

are you on 1.02?
Indeed I am.

Also, just returned from playing, but before I quit I got an event at the wrong time. I had just married and expected to get the message "...are expecting a child". I got it pretty soon but the next event, revolving around the baby, I got when my wife was around 6 - 7 months pregnant. It was the event were you can choose between A, to encourage physical activity, or B, mental activity, or C, being lazy. How can I encourage a child to go on adventures when he hasn't even made it to the first and most important one, birth? You could see this as some kind of preparation for his future life. However, I didn't get the two traits I wanted him to have: "wise" and the other one on option B. And I don't expect him to get it later, after education, either.

Bug or no bug? Can it be fixed?

In my opinion, WAD, and unfixable with the available scripting commands. It's your wife who gets the event (her father's a ruler somewhere, right? So she meets the ruler_child trigger condition, and is probably in the 15-26 age range affected by the event), not your unborn child.

A dead pope sits in Rome

In my current game as Duchy of Apulia there is a dead pope.

Yes. The pope is dead. But he is still the pope.

This whole pope thing seems to me as it is bugged from here to eternity (pope stealing bishopries, cheap claims from excommunicating with no penalties etc etc).
It might be worth SERIOUSLY considering removing the pope from the game until a solution to all this has been found - until then he can be an archbishop or something.

In Chicago, the dead vote; in Rome they get elected. :D So what else is new?

First time I've seen it. Does anyone know why it happens?
Perhaps the pope has no successors or there are no bishoprics which he can inherit!? :p

I suspect it has something to do with the lack of ecclesiastically educated people due to the ai_chance bug.

More likely related to dead people hanging in courts. A dead guy can remain in the Pope's court and if he has highest piety of all bishops / guys in Pope's court, he'll get elected. And considering the piety maluses given from Crusader Exceptations, no wonder sooner or later a dead guy in Pope's court happens to be highest piety guy when Pope dies. Ta-dah and Pope says: "Dracula has nothing on me!" ;)

Actually, it has been reported several time, but never properly logged.

That said, there was several thread abour female or dead pope (or both).

It would be nice if people take the time to Search in the forum or in the bug list (you know, the *****READ BEFORE POSTING***** thread) before submitting "new" bugs.

That would save us, poor bug forum moderators, a LOT of time.

Threads merged.

Bug logged.

Thanks,
